Love Them or Leave Them: Makeup Cakes
Hey Everyone,
Ever since I turned twenty, I have been obsessing about my 30th Birthday, and while certain members of my family may not agree (*cough mom cough*), I personally feel 30 is a huge milestone and therefore, should be celebrated with a huge cake...a makeup cake!
Although I have decided to have a fairly small Sunday brunch birthday party, I really want my cake to be grand, and of course, to reflect my love for all things pretty, pink and beauty related. I had originally planned to give up control and let my mom and sister take care of the the cake details, but I would be lying if I said I haven't been wanting to write out a list of cake do's and don'ts, as well as take some pictures of my favourite beauty items to help 'inspire' whoever the person making the cake (What?! You only get one 30th birthday makeup cake!).
Of course, I love all of the cakes pictured in this post, and would be extremely happy to have any of them (especially the one above), but my question to you is...would you love to celebrate your next birthday with a makeup cake, or would you rather have something a little more simple and 'mature'? Do you think 30th Birthdays are a big deal? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.
xx

ReplyDeleteI want a bday everyday just for the cake! They're totally gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteIt is. I love the little lipsticks. xx
Deletehaha omg cute!
ReplyDeleteI know right?
DeleteThose cakes are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew how to make them.
DeleteThose cakes are great and I definitely agree that birthdays like 30ths should be as grand as you want them to be because its an achievement!
ReplyDeleteI had a friend that wasnt married or in a long term relationship and for her 30th threw a HUGE fancy dress party and had heaps of drinks put on and an extravagant cake. Her reasoning - she is only 30 once, never been engaged or married... so that was her big party!
Go for it girl
That's me too! Never married or engaged...this will be my big party (although its more going to be a small brunch with friends). xx
DeleteLove them! Chanel cake is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI love the quilted bag!
DeleteLove 'em! I think Cake Boss would make an awesome makeup themed cake, maybe throw a lil' zebra print in there...
ReplyDeleteYes, I think they would be an amazing one too. xx
DeleteI wouldn't want to eat it because they are masterpieces! lol. I'd love a chanel cake
ReplyDeleteMe too. I would definitely eat it though...especially if it was carrot cake :) xx
DeleteI think cakes like these are AWESOME! It's not just A cake but something that was made specially for you and there probably isn't one exactly like it (or it's rare). Feels like designer wear xD
ReplyDeleteI agree. It is so unique.
DeleteAww...never celebrate birthday but I like the cakes! super nice!
ReplyDeleteNever celebrate birthdays? I go a little birthday crazy! xx

I'm with you, I think all Birthdays are big but especially the milestone years (21, 30, 40, etc.). xx
DeleteI feel like I've been living under a rock - I'd never dreamt a cake like this existed! Love the idea!
ReplyDeleteThey exist. Actually you can pretty much find any kind of cake you want (car cakes, animal cakes. etc.). xx
Deleteomg! those cakes, wow! how can you eat something this beautiful?:-) i'm wondering if it tastes good.....i think turning 30 is a huge mile stone and should be celebrated accordinly!
ReplyDeleteI've made a couple of cakes for friends (not nearly as good looking). They taste good...I just take off the fondant (the thick coloured icing on top). It's a little too sweet.
DeleteWow! I think it would be very cool to have one of those in your birthday.
ReplyDeleteyes it would be!
DeleteYou read my mind!!! I so want a shoe/chanel/givenchy/make-up cake for my 23rd!!!
ReplyDeleteNice. I hope you get one! xx
DeleteOH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS!!!! I've never seen anything like this before, what a great idea! It's my 21st at the end of the year and have no idea what to do for it, I may have to get something like this.. I love the first one. And I think 30 is definitely a big birthday :) xx
ReplyDeleteDo it. 21 is definitely a big birthday. I went to Vegas for my 21st :)
DeleteI think I might have to, I keep ooohing and ahhing over these photos. ooh Vegas must have been amazing for your 21st. At the moment I'm thinking New York. I've never been before but have always wanted to, plus my birthday is new years eve so I thought 21st+NYE+New York would be awesome! x
DeleteYa that would be awesome. I am going to New York the day after my 30th. We;re going to do IMATS and then 4 days in the city exploring. I went last year too. It's a really fun place to visit. xx
DeleteThose are amazing

Yes they are!
DeleteCake boss always comes on when we are eating dinner and my mom always comments on how it is so gross how much they actaully touch the cake. I'm personaly not a huge fan of cake in general. Considering the cost of a cake like this I'd rather just keep the dough for some real make up or purse!!
ReplyDeleteCamille
Ya they do touch it a lot. I've made a few cakes like that (not nearly as nice) and they are a lot of fun to make. I love cake and makeup, so why not together. xx
DeleteIt is your birthday and your cake. You should have what YOU want! Personally I think they are adorable. I would lean towards wanting a larger single unit cake rather than multiple small pieces because I don't really like the fondant, but that is ME and this is all about YOU!
ReplyDeleteI agree about fondant. I'd like a layered cake with little makeup pieces stuck on. :)
DeleteI think they are fab...but remember, a cake that great don't come cheap :(
ReplyDeleteNo they don't. I haven't gotten any price quotes yet..hopefully it won't be too too much.
DeleteThese cakes are so cute <3
ReplyDeleteI love these...I think it's YOUR birthday, no matter what # it is, and you should have as much fun as possible, and if that means a makeup cake, then so be it! Honestly, though, I probably wouldn't want one....but only because I would then feel guilty about eating any of it because it looks so neat!
