Last week, when I posted my 'I Love Neon' post, I mentioned that I was having trouble getting some of my neon nail polishes (more specifically China Glaze's 'Celtic Sun') to show up vibrantly on my nails. For anyone who has own Celtic Sun, a super bright neon yellow, you will know that while it looks promising in the bottle, it comes out very streaky, and takes four to five coats before it starts looking somewhat opaque (and even then it's not so great).
Well, thanks to a couple of my subscribers who left comments on that post, I have a new trick to share on how to make your neon polishes appear more vibrant, more true to colour, and a lot less streaky. White nail polish!!
Without white nail polish, with white nail polish, without white nail polish, with white nail polish
By applying a light coat of white nail polish (I chose Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear polish in 'White On') to the nails before applying two coats of 'Celtic Sun', I was able to get that bright yellow, almost glow-in-the-dark colour that appears in the China Glaze bottle.
I have now tried this trick with several of my neon polishes (even the ones that do already come out opaque), and have noticed that all of the polishes look better over a white base.
Thanks again to my subscribers for giving me this little trick. I hope it works as well for all of you!
