Hey Everyone,
Last week I made my way to Toronto for a Givenchy fragrance and makeup launch that was being held at Sephora's Bloor Street location. The event, which was put on by the LVHM group, featured a new Givenchy perfume, a new Fendi cologne and several new Givenchy makeup products including a mascara, a makeup remover pen, a glow powder and a cheek and lip balm.
The event itself took place early in the morning, where those of us in attendance were served a super cute breakfast (yes, super cute) of yogurt and fruit in mason jars, cupcakes and a variety of beverages. After breakfast, we had a chance to check out all of the new makeup products, and watched as a Givenchy makeup artist showed us how to properly use everything. Finally, we were introduced to the new Givenchy and Fendi fragrances, as some of the creative minds behind the two brands talked about the process of developing a new fragrance including the design of the bottle and the selection various fragrance notes.
At the end of the event we were each gifted with a bag containing all of the new Givenchy and Fendi products. These are the first products I have tried from either brand, and so far, I am, honestly, quite impressed. Below is more information on each product including my initial thoughts on everything.
Givenchy Noir Couture Mascara ($35 CND):
This 4-in-1 mascara has a unique 'tri-spherical' brush that allows for thicker, longer and more curved lashes. Enriched with a 'Lash Booster Expert Complex', Givenchy Noir Couture mascara revitalizes and strengthens the lashes, giving them a 'more beautiful and healthy glow'. While this smooth and silky mascara gives the lashes a gorgeous natural look in just one coat, it is easily buildable for a more dramatic look.
My thoughts:
While I usually don't like 'wetter' mascaras, it is the smooth and silky formula that makes this mascara so great. I have been using this mascara every day since I received it and am really liking how full and long it makes my lashes look. While I have yet to see any curling effects, the 'tri-spherical' brush certainly makes it easier for me to reach, and therefore coat, all of my lashes (including those on the bottom lash line). While $35 CND seems like an awfully expensive price tag (at least to me), I do think it is worth the money and would definitely recommend you try it out.

Givenchy Mister Perfect Instant Makeup Eraser ($33 CND):
Mister Perfect (don't you love the name?!) is a high precision makeup correcting pen that is used to eraser any smudges or mistakes created when applying your makeup. This pen, which comes with 3 extra tips, uses a "delightfully fresh, aqueous lotion [that] gently, but thoroughly eliminates any smears and smudges". The formula is made with an ultra-mild coconut derivative, which makes it perfect for sensitive skin.
My Thoughts
Let's be honest, we're all thinking it: "Why would you buy a $33 makeup erasing pen when you can use a q-tip and a drugstore makeup remover instead?". Well, let me tell you that is exactly what I thought until yesterday, when I got a chance to see this pen in action. After doing a red lip and winged eyeliner for my Marilyn Monroe inspired face of the day, my face was a bit of a mess. While I try my best at creating perfectly shaped eyeliner or staying within the lines of the lips, it doesn't always happen. This pen, with its teeny-tiny pointed tip, allowed me erase the smallest mistakes and left me with precise lines on both my lips and eyes (something that doesn't happen when I use a q-tip). Is $33 a lot to pay? Heck yes! Is it worth it? In this case, I honestly think it is. I can truly say, if I didn't already own this pen, and just had a chance to test it out, I would be making my way to Sephora to buy one. Hello Mister Perfect...where have you been all of my life?!
Givenchy Healthy Glow Powder in 'Amber Croisiere' ($55):
This beautifully packaged, talc-free powder works to give the skin a very natural, sun-kissed glow. Available in four different shades, this powder is super light, very creamy and easy to blend, giving the skin a smooth and even texture.
My Thoughts:
While I completely agree with Givenchy that this ultra-light, weightless powder gives the skin a beautiful and very natural, sun-kissed glow (even the second darkest colour looks amazing on my fair skin), I just can't get on board with the price. To me, $55 for a powder is too expensive, no matter how great it makes my skin look (okay, that's a lie, if it hid all of my acne and large pores, I'd be buying stock in the company). If you are a lover of all things Givenchy (and can afford the hefty price tag), you might want to check this out. If not, I would advise you to spend your hard earned dollars on something else.
Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Magic Lip & Cheek Balm in 'Rosy Glow' ($34 CND):
This moisturizing lip and cheek balm combines "hyaluronic acid spheres and luff oil that instantly hydrate, plump up and smooth fine lines caused by skin dryness." While the Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Magic Lip & Cheek Balm appears to be quite light in colour, it adapts to your skintone, creating a natural, rosy glow.
My Thoughts:
I usually am not a fan of lip and cheek balms, stains, creams, etc. as I find they are either too drying for my lips or too greasy for my cheeks. After using this product for the last couple of days, I can truly say it works gorgeously on both the lips and cheeks. I love the way it hydrates my always dry lips, giving them a very natural, 'just bitten' look. As for my cheeks, it gives them a really pretty, naturally dewy flush, without making them appear too greasy or wet. While some might feel $34 is too much to spend on a lip and cheek balm, I can honestly say it is worth the price (for comparison, Stila's Convertible Colors which I find so drying retail at $33 CND).
Givenchy Dahlia Noir Eau de Toilette ($124 CND for 75ml):
Dahlia Noir Eau de Toilette, a collaboration between Francois Demachy (Givenchy's perfume creator) and Riccardo Tisci (creative director for Givenchy's womenswear) is Givenchy's first couture perfume. Combining flowery notes (rose, iris and mimosa), fruity notes (peach, and mandarin) and more woody notes (sandalwood and patchuouli), Givenchy created this perfume for the super feminine, yet extremely strong woman.
My Thoughts:
While I am not a huge fan of floral perfumes (I like super sweet, candy-like scents), I can appreciate Dahlia Noir's very fresh and light floral scent. Unlike the Dahlia Noir 'Eau de Parfume', that has a more of a powdery scent, the 'Eau de Toilette' is much more fruity, which I personally prefer. Like all perfumes, it really is a matter of personal taste, and therefore would recommend you head to your local beauty boutique and check it out.
Fan di Fendi Eau de Parfum Men's Cologne ($88 CND for 100ml):
Combining notes of soft leather, black pepper, bergamot and lemon, the newest cologne from fashion power house, Fendi, was designed for the charismatic, stylish and very powerful man. With a light, fresh, almost citrusy smell, this cologne is timeless, making it the perfect scent for men both young and old.
My Thoughts:
To me, this cologne has a very fresh, very citrusy, and almost sporty scent (it reminds me a lot of the Right Guard deodorant my Dad has used for years). One of the coolest parts of the event was being able to smell the different notes used in this cologne by themselves (it's fascinating to me that pepper, leather and bergamot can be mixed together to create a nice smelling men's cologne). Like I said with the Dahlia Noir perfume, cologne is really a matter of personal taste, so I would definitely recommend you head to your closest perfume counter and check this out, as it might make a great Christmas gift for one of the men in your life.

I really enjoyed the Givenchy/Fendi event, and appreciate the opportunity to try some of their new products. Thank you to LVHM for hosting the event.
