TAG: Products I Vow to Use During the Month of September

Hey Everyone,

I hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday. My sisters and I are heading out this evening to do some house hunting. We have been looking for a condo for all three of us to live in together, but so far haven't had much luck. If you are interested in seeing more about our house hunting adventures, be sure to check out my vlog channel here

Although we are more than half way through September (crazy!), I wanted to do a quick post showing you the products I have vowed to use this month. If you remember, last month I started a tag called "Products I Vow to Use During the Month of". Basically, because I have a lot much makeup, and often forget about products, I have vowed to choose eight products at the beginning of each month, use them religiously throughout the month, and finally do a mini review of each product at the end of the month, letting you know what I think of them.

For those who prefer to read about the eight products I have vowed to use this month, check out the post below. For those who would rather see a video with the eight products I vowed to use, as well as the eight products my sister Krista vowed to use, you can check out our video (also posted below).

So, without further ado, here are the eight products I have vowed to use during the month of Septmeber:

MAC Lipstick in 'Up The Amp':
I have been absolutely obsessed with purple lip products, so when I found MAC's 'Up the Amp' buried at the back of my collection, I was so excited. This creamy, 'amplified' lipstick is a gorgeous pinky-purple colour with blue undertones. Not only is this lipstick well pigmented (warning: this is NOT a sheer lipstick), it is very creamy and moisturizing. As you can probably tell, I've kind of already made up my mind on this product, but I will be sure to give a more detailed review at the end of the month.

NARS Powder Blush in 'Taj Mahal':
NARS Taj Mahal, a brilliant orange blush heavily laced with golden shimmer used to be one of my favourite blushes. Now, it just plain scares me. I have been experimenting with this blush and I honestly can't remember how I applied it to my cheeks without looking like I had a horribly orange, fake tan. I do plan on playing around with this some more, and will be sure to give you more thoughts on this blush at the end of the month.

Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadow Palette in 'Playlist':
When I bought this gorgeous, jewel-toned eyeshadow palette from Bare Minerals, I forgot one thing: I don't like glitter in my eyeshadows. While the shadows in this palette are absolutely stunning, nicely pigmented and very creamy, they contain a lot of glitter. With that said, I have vowed to use this during the month of September and hope I can find a way of applying the glittery shadows to my eyes without making them look like a kindergardener's craft project.

Khuraira Dark Circle Primer:
I picked up this super bright orange dark circle primer when I was in NYC last April. Basically, because orange is opposite from blue/purple on the colour wheel, this orange primer is supposed to help correct and cover the appearance of dark under-eye circles (obviously you also need a concealer on top of the primer, unless you want orange under eye circles). I'm really not sure how I feel about this product yet, so I'm hoping by the end of the month I will have made up my mind one way or the other.

Buxom Stay There Eyeshadow in 'Mutt':
One of my favourite products from last month (see my August Favourites post here), was Buxom's Stay There Eyeshadows in the colour 'Pug'. After falling in love with the long lasting, super pigmented, crease proof formula of these cream shadows, I decided to hunt through my stash and see what other colours I had. The result was 'Mutt', a taupe-brown with finely milled iridescent glitter. I can already tell, this one is going to be a new favourite.

NARS Illuminator in 'Copacabana':
I remember when I first bought this creamy, champagne-pink cheek highlighter, I was so excited to finally get my hands on a NARS product (oh how far I have come!). Now, I'm not so into it. While the colour is gorgeous, I find the formula to be chunky, somewhat glittery and very hard to spread. I do plan on using this for the rest of the month, and hope to find a new/better way to apply it.

NYX Powder Blush in 'Raisin':
After watching several youtube videos in which various youtube beauty gurus raved about NYX's 'Raisin' blush, I finally picked it up last fall at Toronto IMATS. While the matte nude blush with both brown and purple undertones, looks gorgeous, I haven't had much of a chance to use it. Like all of NYX' matte blushes, 'Raisin' is soft and creamy, making it easy to blend. Now that fall is here, I will definitely be using this blush more often, and will be sure to share my final thoughts with you at the end of the month.

Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara:
I believe I received this lengthening and curling mascara at an event last year, but haven't had a chance to play with it until now. My thoughts? Meh! With a super wet formula, and a not so great plastic brush, I am constantly getting mascara on my eye-lid, and ruining my eyeshadow. I do plan to play with this a bit more, and who knows, maybe I will change my mind by the end of the month.

If you would like a little more detail on each product, as well as see the eight product my sister vows to use this month, be sure to check out the video below.

Of course, I tag all of you to do the 'Products I Vow to Use' challenge with me. If you want to take part, leave a link to your post or video in the comment section below, so I can check it out.

Have you tried any of the product I've vowed to use this month? What are your thoughts on them? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

  1. I love this idea~
I might have to try and do this...eventually. Right now I am stuck in student mode, meaning I am leaving the house with the bare minimum/same thing everyday. I found that when the MArcelle mascara dried up a bit, it worked well, hope it works out for you this time around :)

  2. Lovely choices Alicia! I love the Taj Mahal blush! Sadly, mine broke and I'm looking for a dupe! THe purple makeup actually scares me..it's such a bold colour to wear. But hats off to you for sporting it :)
