Butter London Sweetie Shop Collection (Review + Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

As I mentioned in a recent post, Butter London recently released their Spring 2013 nail lacquer collection named 'Sweetie Shop' (such a cute name). The collection features six of their creme formula nail polishes in varying pastel shades.

Like all of Butter London's polishes, the Sweetie Shop nail lacquers are 3-Free meaning they are free of harmful chemicals such as toluene, DBP and formaldehyde (they are also free of parabens).

Butter London Canada recently sent me three colours from the new Sweetie Shop collection, 'Fruit Machine', 'Molly Coddled' and 'Cuppa'. I've had a chance to try all three polishes and, let me tell you, they are awesome! Not only is the Butter London creme formula super smooth and extremely opaque, the colours are perfect for Spring, and will definitely help cure the winter blues. Below is more information on, and swatches of, the polishes I received.

Butter London 'Fruit Machine' Nail Lacquer:
'Fruit Machine' is a bright, creamy, bubblegum pink with blue undertones (think Barbie). The formula of this polish is amazing as it goes on smoothly and completely opaque in just one coat (I still choose to apply two coats out of habit). This is definitely my favourite colour from the collection and, while I do have several pink polishes, there's nothing in my collection thats quite as nice as 'Fruit Machine'. While, like all of the Butter London polishes, 'Fruit Machine' is quite expensive, in my opinion, the formula, the unique colour and the fact that it is 3-free justifies the $17 CND price tag.

Butter London 'Molly Coddled' Nail Lacquer:
'Molly Coddled' is an icy lilac purple with blue undertones. Like 'Fruit Machine' (and all of the other Butter London creme polishes I have tried), the formula of this polish is really nice, as it applies smoothly and opaquely in just one coat. I have been wearing this colour on my nails since I received it (five days ago I believe), and so far have had no problems with chipping. If you already own several pastel purple polishes, you may not want to spend $17 CND on another one. If, however, you have been looking for the perfect springtime lilac shade, you will definitely want to check Butter London's 'Molly Coddled' out.

Butter London 'Cuppa' Nail Lacquer:
'Cuppa' is a light, creamy, tan-beige with distinctive yellow undertones. While 'Cuppa' has a similar formula to both 'Fruit Machine' and 'Molly Coddled' (it's extremely smooth and easy to work with), its lighter colour means that two coats are needed for a truly opaque finish. Personally, I think 'Cuppa' works better for darker skin tones, as it doesn't have enough warm undertones (think orange or peach) to compliment really pale skin   (like mine). If you are looking for a light, yellow toned neutral polish (that works nicely year round), you will definitely want to check 'Cuppa' out.
