Hey Everyone,
Last Wednesday, one of my favourite people, Amber of Canadian Fashionista, and I took a trip to the US to do a little lot of makeup shopping. What Amber and I didn't realize before taking this trip, was just how alike we are when it comes to buying things. You see, Amber and I are both instigators and can convince the other one to buy more makeup than they really truly need (I am happy to say I helped convince Amber to buy a total of 11 nail polishes, 10 lipsticks/lipglosses, and 5 eyeshadow palettes). Needless to say, we both came home with a lot of new products, including items from the new Wet n' Wild Fergie collection, the new Khardashian Khroma Beauty collection and Maybelline's Spring 2013 line.
One of the collections I was most excited to check out was Too Faced's 'Boudoir Beauty', a Spring 2013 collection that features a smokey pastel eyeshadow palette, a couple of face and cheek palettes, and several new lip colours. After playing around with all of the items in the new collection, I settled on two things, a Colour Drenched Lip Creme Lipstick in 'So Berry Sexy' (look for it in an upcoming post), and 'The Secret to No Makeup Makeup: Fresh and Flawless Face Palette'.
'The Secret to No Makeup Makeup: Fresh and Flawless Face Palette' features a powder highlighter, cream blush, powder blush, concealer, luminizer, and brightener, all designed to create a natural, glowy, and flawless appearance. As the package says:
"The feminine mystique of looking like you woke up perfectly fresh and flawless is what every woman dreams of. Too Faced has unlocked the secret with this universally flattering palette of essential soft pinks and neutral nudes designed to conceal, luminize, blush and subtly brighten for the ultimate lift-from-within glow."
'The Secret to No Makeup Makeup: Fresh and Flawless Face Palette' comes in a small, pink, tin case with gold and black writing. This durable case is small enough to fit in your purse making it perfect for on-the-go touchups or travel. Inside the tin case are six face products (each with their own corresponding label), as well as a small mirror, perfect for focusing on each individual feature (ie. eyes, lips, cheeks).
Like all of Too Faced's palettes, 'The Secret to No Makeup Makeup: Fresh and Flawless Palette' contains a small booklet with detailed pictures, showing you how to quickly achieve one of three flawless makeup looks ('Wakeup Makeup', 'Nude Radiance' and 'Red Carpet Countour'). Below is more information on each of the products contained in this palette.
Bronzing Veil (0.28oz):
This finely milled, slightly bronzed, shimmering powder makes for the perfect all over highlighter. This is definitely one of the smoothest and creamiest highlighters I have ever used, as there is absolutely no fallout, and not even a hint of chalkiness. While shimmery (so pretty!), the bronzing veil has no glitter, meaning those with larger pores (such as myself), don't need to worry about them being emphasized.
Creme Blush (O.10oz):
This super smooth, bright pink blush, with both neutral and red undertones, is perfect for warming up any complexion. Despite a silky texture (which allows for easy blending), this cream blush adheres to the skin, for long lasting colour. With flower extracts, avocado and vitamin A, this cream blush is hydrating, nourishing, and does not sit in fine lines or wrinkles.
Powder Blush (0.11oz):
This light, baby pink, powder blush with blue undertones and finely milled iridescent gold and green shimmer is, in my opinion, the perfect colour for Spring. Not only is this blush nicely pigmented, it has a super smooth consistency that allows for easy blending. I have been wearing this, in combination with the creme blush, for the past four days, and despite having oily skin, have found that it lasts nicely throughout the entire day.
Concealer (0.05oz):
If I had to choose one item to remove from this palette, it would be the concealer. Not because of the quality (in fact, it is very creamy and has great coverage), but because it only comes in one light, yellow-toned shade. While this concealer doesn't work with my skin tone when it comes to covering blemishes, it does work nicely under my eyes to hide dark blue and purple circles. With a super creamy, non-thick formula, this concealer does not sit in the fine lines under my eyes, which makes it a winner in my book.
Luminizer (0.06oz):
This super creamy (I know I keep saying it, but everything really is so creamy), peach luminizer with iridescent gold, green and red shimmer is definitely one of my favourite products in this palette. Not only does this luminizer give cheekbones a stunning, dewy glow, it also works nicely on the bridge of the nose, inner corner of the eye, and cupid's bow. Like the rest of the products in this palette, the luminizer blends smoothly into the skin without highlighting fine lines or larger pores.
Brightener (0.05oz)
The last product contained in this palette, is a lightly coloured, pink-toned, creamy brightener, that works nicely to add light to the under eye area/inner corner of the eye. Unlike the concealer which is too light for darker skin tones, the brightener completely blends into the skin, leaving absolutely no colour, and instead a beautiful, natural, 'wow I'm sitting under really great lighting' glow.
'The Secret to No Makeup Makeup: Flawless Face Palette retails for $39 USD/$48 CND. Despite the ridiculous Canadian price hike (what else is new?!), I definitely think this palette is well worth the price. With six great quality products (that's less than $5 per product), this palette really does have everything you need to achieve that flawless, natural, glowing look. LOVE!

What the heck is with that price hike? This looks like a great palette though. I pretty much want all of Too Faced's Spring Collection!
ReplyDeleteThe price hikes for all cosmetics in Canada drive me insane!!! Luckily, I can make it to the US in an hour or so. The entire collection is beautiful. I really wanted the eyeshadow palette but have too many shadows that are similar in colour. xx
DeleteIsn't that concealer actually dark? :S
ReplyDeleteIt looks dark in the pictures, but in person its actually really light, especially when you only use a little. I am super fair and it would be my colour if it wasn't so yellow. xx
DeleteCute looking palette! Really loving the packaging with all the latest TF releases. Annoying when they put a concealer in with these sorts of things though. Obviously any palette won't work for all skin tones but the concealer is the most person-specific.
ReplyDeleteYes it definitely is the most person-specific. I'm lucky, I could get it to work for my under eye area, but I still think the palette is worth it even if you can't use the concealer. Everything else is really well done. xx
DeleteI love the packaging so much !
ReplyDeleteRossy
Me, MySelf and I
Me too. Too Faced always has super cute packaging. xx
DeleteI actually am more tempted by this than the new Urban Decay palette
ReplyDeleteIs there a new face Urban Decay palette or do you mean the Wizard of Oz ones? I didn't think I would pick this up when I went to the US (it looked pretty but I didnt think it would be that great), but once I swatched it, I had to have it. lol. xx
