With weather fluctuating between the low 10's and mid 20's (we're talking Celsius here), I've begun to feel like I am perpetually bouncing back and forth between Summer and Fall (I just want to wear my new fall clothes!). So, to put in me in the Fall mood, I have been turning to the latest deep/vampy Fall 2013 beauty collections, including Lancôme's new 'L'Absolu Désir Collection'.
With insanely beautiful packaging, the new collection features six red lipsticks, an illuminating blush and three faux-black nail polishes, and has a chic, Paris-meets-old hollywood feel adding a touch of elegance and glamour to any makeup look.
I was recently sent the following four items from the new 'L'Absolu Désir Collection':
Lancôme Blush in 'Rose Désir' ($48 CND):
Housed in a sleek black case with gold etching of the eiffel tower and Lancôme's signature rose design (this theme is carried throughout the collection), Lancôme's new 'Rose Désir' blush is the picture of elegance. Once open, the blush reveals a similar design and includes two gorgeous peach-toned shades with a lightly sprayed gold overlay. The main shade, a light slightly orange-toned peach, is soft and subtle and looks great swept just below the cheek bones, while the brighter shade, a coral-peach with pink undertones, adds a surprising pop of colour to the apples of the cheeks. Like all of the Lancôme blushes I have tried, both 'Rose Désir' shades are incredibly soft, nicely pigmented and very blendable making it easy to create your own custom blush shade (mix it up).
Lancôme Absolu Rouge Lipstick in #132 'Caprice' ($31 CND):
A bold cherry red with slight blue undertones, Lancôme's 'Caprice' is the perfect shade of 'movie star red', making both teeth and skin look brighter (I seriously love this shade!). Extremely well pigmented, this colour applies very opaquely in just one swipe, leaving lips with a slightly glossy finish. Made with pro-xylance which helps to boost lips moisture level, this lipstick is fairly moisturizing, however, I would still suggest those with super dry lips apply a lip balm underneath.
Lancôme Absolu Rouge in #386 'Prune Désir' ($31 CND):
A deep vampy wine-purple with slight brown undertones, 'Prune Désir' is, in my opinion, the perfect colour for fall (you know how much I love my vampy lips). While this colour is somewhat frightening in the tube, it applies more sheerly than 'Caprice' meaning it can be worn lightly or built up for a more dramatic look, depending on your preference. While I really love the colour, I did find this shade to be slightly more drying than the other 'Caprice' and would, therefore, recommend pairing it with a moisturizing lip balm.
Lancôme Vernis in Love in #485 'Grey Lumiere':
A deep smokey grey (almost black) with slight blue undertones, 'Grey Lumiere' applies evenly and opaquely in just one coat (this baby is pigmented!). With a quick drying formula, this polish is chip resistance, and said to last up to 5 days. If you like a deep vampy nail for fall, this is one colour that won't disappoint.
