I hope you are all having a wonderful. My day was hot with a capital H-O-T. Summer is definitely here, and having spent a lot of my day outside taking photos and filming videos for upcoming posts, I think I sweated off at least five pounds (I wish). Speaking of hot, my mom, sister and I are headed to Nashville this Sunday for CMA Fest 2013. I have a number of guest posts and videos lined up while I am gone, and I hope to post a lot of 'outfit of the day' posts while I am away to show you all of the new clothes I bought for the trip (I needed a whole new wardrobe after losing almost 50lbs).
For today's post, I wanted to share my latest Fashion Magazine Beauty Panel look with you. This week's question was 'What are your tips for waterproof/sweat-proof beauty?' Below is my answer and look.
Rather than layer a bunch of makeup on my face, praying that at least some of it will be there at the end of hot/humid summer day, I actually like to keep my makeup very simple, and find that creating a waterproof look has everything to do with the products you use.
Despite using an eyeshadow primer, I have found that on hot summer days, even the best powder shadows start to crease after only a few hours. Therefore, I like to us a waterproof, budge-proof cream eyeshadow such as Make Up Forever's infamous 'Aqua Creams'.
While the obvious choice would be to use a waterproof mascara on really humid days, I personally prefer the way my lashes look using my favourite non-waterproof mascara. Instead, I use a clear waterproof top coat such as Anastasia's 'Lash Genius Waterproof Top Coat' to keep my mascara from running or smudging (no one wants raccoon eyes!).
I love blush! So, to make sure that my cheeks look rosy all day, I use a jelly blush, such as Givenchy's 'Blush Gelée which stains the skin for a long lasting finish.
For me, using a traditional lipstick on hot days means I will have to re-apply it at least five times a day. So, on days I really want to keep my lipstick from wearing off, I use a liquid lipstick such as Makeup Forever's Aqua Rouge Lip Colour. Once set, this lipstick will not budge without the help of a good makeup removing oil.
To finish my waterproof/sweat-proof, I always ensure to use two things: a good setting powder such as Make Up Forever's 'Pro-Finish Powder', and an oil-free setting spray such as Urban Decay's 'De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray'. Both these products help keep your makeup in place on even the hottest of days.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in ‘#3.5’
Makeup Forever Pro-Finish Powder in ‘#113’
Maybelline Instant Rewind Dark Spot Eraser in ‘Light’.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in ‘Luminous Light’
Givenchy Blush Gelée in ‘Croisiére Camel’
Urban Decay ‘De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray’
Makeup Forever Aqua Cream in ‘#52’ and ‘#53’
L’Oreal Black Smoke Mascara
Anastasia Lash Genius Waterproof Top Coat
Makeup Forever Aqua Rouge Liquid Lip Colour in ‘#17’
What do you think of my final look? Do you have any tips for waterproof/sweat-proof beauty? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

First, I wanted to apologize for my lack of posts lately. I have been having a number of health issues including a flare-up of my pain condition, and haven't felt up to blogging as much as usual.
Despite not feeling very well, I did manage to go on a US shopping trip with my sister a couple of weekends ago, and wanted to show you what we bought.

As part of their Summer 2013 'Aquatic Summer Colour Collection', Lancôme has released their limited edition Star Bronzer Palette in 'Bronze Essence'. The palette, which consists of a coral-toned blush, a tan bronzer and a bronzed highlighter, can be used on any skin tone, giving the face a natural looking, sun-kissed glow.
"Artistry made easy: Star Bronzer Palette offers three simple steps to tan, blush and highlight your complexion. For any skin tone, any face shape-your tan is magnified. The three powder formulas are silky smooth for an even application. They blend seamlessly and build from sheer to intense coverage.
Thin, light, with a large mirror, this palette is purse friendly and works nicely for on-the-go touchups. While I personally didn't use the pamphlet that came with the palette, it would come in handy for those who aren't comfortable with contouring and highlighting the face, as it not only gives step by step instructions, it also has detailed pictures.
The palette consists of the following three powders:
Powder #1: Blush
A coral-pink with finely milled golden shimmer, the first powder in this palette reminds me a lot of NARS's infamous 'Orgasm' powder blush. Unlike, 'Orgasm', which I find to be chunky and difficult to blend, this blush is incredibly smooth and blends seamlessly into the skin for a 'lit from within', natural glow.
This blush is very highly pigmented, meaning a little goes a long way, however, its smooth and creamy texture makes it easy to blend out for those who want a more subtle look.
Powder #2: Bronzer
A light tan with brown undertones and fairly heavy gold shimmer, the second powder in this palette has absolutely no orange undertones (I hate looking orange!). What it does have, is a fair bit of shimmer which, unfortunately, draws attention to enlarged pores and imperfections (I really wish this bronzer was matte).
The light tan colour of this bronzer works nicely on a variety of skin tones, as it can be easily blended out for fair skin or built up for darker skin.
Powder #3: Highlighter
A gorgeous golden-bronze with very finely milled golden shimmer, the third powder in this palette is, in my opinion, the perfect summer highlighter as it gives skin a natural, lightly tanned glow.
Highly pigmented and extremely smooth, this highlighter is easy to blend out and unlike the bronzer, does not emphasize large pores or imperfections.
Overall, the blush and highlighter in this palette are absolutely stunning, very easy to work with and perfect for summer. However, for $45 CND I would have hoped to like all three powders in this palette equally. While the bronzer is the perfect colour for my fair skin, I don't like how its heavy shimmer highlights my already large pores and uneven skin tone.
If you, like me, only like matte bronzers, this is probably isn't the palette for you. If however, you don't mind a little shimmer and want to achieve a natural looking sun-kissed glow this summer, definitely check out Lancôme's Star Bronzer Palette in 'Bronze Essence'.
L-R: Blush, Bronzer, Highlighter
Will you be giving Lancôme's new 'Bronze Essence' Star Bronzer Palette a try? Do you prefer a matte or shimmering bronzer? What is your all time favourite bronzer? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

After the success of Givenchy's limited edition 'Candide Pink' Blush Gelée in 2011, the high-end fashion and cosmetics brand recently introduced a new Blush Gelée just in time for Summer. 'Croisiére Coral', a bright coral pink with orange undertones 'brightens the cheeks with its chromographone colouring agent, ensuring an ingenuous radiance'.
I was recently sent Givenchy's newest Blush Gelée and, as a complete blush addict, was more than a little excited to test it out. Below is my review:
When I first tried Givenchy's Blush Gelée, I was somewhat taken aback by its watery texture. While I knew that it was a jelly blush, I was expecting a somewhat more creamy or mousey texture. After giving the tube a good shake (you need to shake it before application), I applied it to my cheeks and immediately noticed the 'pleasant, cooling sensation' created by the blush's high water content.
While the blush's sponge-tipped applicator makes applying blush to your cheeks very easy (and precise), I did find that I still needed to use my fingers (careful, this blush does stain) or a synthetic haired brush to blend the blush out evenly.
The blush itself is extremely well pigmented, and its jelly formula gives the cheeks a very natural looking dewy glow. Once set, the Givenchy Blush Gelée does not budge and stains the cheeks for a long lasting, touch-up free finish.
While the price, at $37 CND, is more than I would like to pay for any blush, I have to say I am very impressed by, not only the colour of Givenchy's latest Blush Gelée, but its unique consistency/texuture and long lasting formula.
If you are a blush addict like me and have yet to experience the wonders of a jelly blush, be sure to check out Givenchy's Blush Gelée in 'Croisiére Coral'.
What do you think of Givenchy's latest Blush Gelée? Will you be giving it a try? Are there any other jelly blushes on the market you think I should try? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

After three weeks of being stuck in bed with a fibromyalgia flare-up, I was more than a little excited to go get my nails done today. One, because my nails were looking ridiculously ragged and two, because I couldn't wait to try two new colour changing nail polishes I recently purchased from a new brand called 'Ruby Wing'.
Unlike traditional colour changing polishes, that react to the body's temperature, 'Ruby Wing''s line of polishes react to direct UV light/sunlight and change colours almost immediately after stepping outside (I was impressed with how quickly they change colour). Below is more information/swatches of the two colours I picked up.
Ruby Wing Colour Changing Polish in 'Gypsy':
A light, bright turquoise blue creme, which changes to a bright, almost neon light green. This polish is somewhat streaky to apply but covers opaquely in 2-3 coats (depending on how thick you make each coat).
Ruby Wing Colour Changing Polish in 'Sand Dune':
A peachy-coral creme, which changes to a bright coral-red with a jelly-like finish. This polish is somewhat streaky to apply but covers opaquely in 2-3 coats (depending on how thick you make each coat.
Ruby Wing Colour Changing Polish in 'Gypsy' and 'Sand Dune' (indoors/shade)
Ruby Wing Colour Changing Polish in 'Gypsy' and 'Sand Dune' (outdoors/sun)
Have you tried any of Ruby Wing's colour changing nail polishes? Do you want to? What is your all time favourite Summer nail polish shade? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Over the past couple of months I have undoubtedly fallen head over heels in love with Dior's line of cosmetics. While on the pricier side (I never thought I would be willing to spend $30+ on a lipgloss), the quality and pigmentation of their products is, for the most part, 'out of this world'.
For Summer 2013, Dior recently released their 'Bird of Paradise' collection featuring several eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, lip pens, blushes, brushes and more.
"Skin turns to gold and glimmers in the sunlight, more radiant than ever. From azure blue to indigo, and peacock green to hibiscus pink, eyes and nails display the exotic shades of lush nature. Alluring and radiantly fresh, lips are tinted pink, coral and peach. These tropical harmonies beat in time to 'skin feathers' textures, revealing all the beauty of a contemporary bird of paradise".
I was recently sent four items from the new Dior 'Bird of Paradise' collection. Below is my review:
Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 'Peacock' ($60 CND):
Inspired by the 'shimmering glint of peacock feathers', Dior's latest eyeshadow palette contains the following five shadows:
1) A bright spring green with heavy yellow undertones and a slight iridescent sheen, the first shadow in this palette is nicely pigmented, extremely smooth and easy to work with.
2) A yellow toned-beige laced with heavy gold glitter, the second shadow in this palette is a disappointment as it lacks pigmentation and is difficult to apply smoothly.
3) A very soft icy blue with an iridescent sheen, the third shadow in this palette is nicely pigmented and looks great when used as a highlighter in the inner corner of the eye.
4) A deep peacock blue-green with a slight iridescent sheen, the fourth shadow in this palette is very well pigmented, applies smoothly and looks absolutely stunning in the crease/outer-v for a smoky eyed look.
5) A very light green with heavy yellow undertones, the fifth eyeshadow in this palette is unfortunately not very well pigmented and creates a lot of fallout.
Overall, I would say this palette is just so-so. While most of the colours have fairly good pigmentation, for $60 CND, I would hope all of the shadows would be easy to work with and very well pigmented. Combined with the fact that I don't think green eyeshadows look good on me, this palette is, in my opinion, a 'pass'.
Dior Jelly Lip Pen in 'Gaia' ($26 CND):
A new addition to the Dior line, the 'Bird of Paradise' collection introduces the 'Jelly Lip Pen' a twist up jumbo-pencil lipgloss/tinted lip balm that gives lips a glossy, finish while providing long lasting colour and hydration.
'Gaia', one of three new 'Jelly Lip Pens', is a bright rosy pink with slight coral undertones and a high gloss finish. This 'Jelly Lip Pen' is extremely moisturizing (you don't need a balm underneath it), very nicely pigmented and stains the lips for long lasting colour. I am absolutely in love with this new 'Jelly Lip Pen' and definitely want to check out the other two 'Bird of Paradise' collection colours .
Dior Addict Lipstick in 'Passionée' ($31 CND):
As part of the 'Bird of Paradise' Collection, Dior has released two new shades of their famous Dior Addict Lipstick including 'Passionée', a bright, hot pink with red undertones and a high shine finish, perfect for Summer.
Like all of Dior's Addict Lipsticks, 'Passionée' is extremely well pigmented (this is a fully opaque lipstick), super creamy and feels amazingly moisturizing on the lips (this feels like a tinted balm). Overall, I am absolutely in love with both the quality and colour of this lipstick and definitely think this is worth the price.
Dior Lip Maximizer in 'Apricot' ($37 CND):
As part of their new Summer 2013 'Bird of Paradise' collection, Dior has brought back their infamous Dior Addict Lip Maximizer in 'Apricot'. A nude light peach, the lip maximizer claims to plump up your lips in just two weeks.
While I can't speak to the two week claim (I haven't worn it consistently for two weeks), I do love the minty tingle it gives my lips and have noticed that the Lip Maximizer's high shine finish gives my lips a fuller appearance whether worn alone or on top of a lipstick.

Have you had a chance to check out of any of the products from Dior's new 'Bird of Paradise' collection? Are there any items from the new collection you are dying to try out? Which of the items above would you most like to get your hands on? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Despite the fact that we had both snow and hail yesterday afternoon, Summer is right around the corner and I, for one, couldn't be more excited. Gone are the days of heavy leggings, oversized sweaters, and deep musky fragrances. Summer means light, flowy dresses, bold, bright hues and light sweet scents.
Below are five new fragrances perfect for Summmer:
Madly Kenzo Eau de Toilette ($52/30ml, $92/80ml):
A fruity, floral fragrance available exclusively at Sephora, 'Madly Kenzo' combines notes of pear and litchi with heliotrope and jasmine for a delicate, feminine scent. Designed by artist and industrial designer Ron Arad, the pink glass bottle evokes the look of a butterfly wing in motion, as butterflies are the symbol of the new 'Madly Kenzo' perfume.
Dior J'adore Voile de Parfum ($85/50ml, $112/100ml):
A new variation of Dior's signature 'J'adore' perfume, 'J'adore Voile de Parfum', sold exclusively at The Bay, combines notes of rose, tuscan iris and white musk for a sensual, powdery, floral scent. The clear glass bottle with a long gold neck is both luxurious and fashionable, making it one of those perfumes you can't help but put on display.
Dior Addict Eau Délice ($49/50ml, $80/100ml):
Hitting Sephora shelves July 1st, 'Dior Addict Eau Delice' combines notes of cranberry, ylang ylang, jasmine and white musk for a sweet, candy-like scent perfect for Summer. The coral/pink bottle resemble's Dior's famous Addict lipstick and lipgloss tubes and the locking cap that helps prevent spilling during travel.
Fan Di Fendi Eau Fraiche ($78/50ml, $94/75ml):
A new addition to the Fan Di Fendi fragrance line, 'Fan Di Fendi Eau Fraiche' combines notes of bergamot, lemon, cardamom, green tea and white flowers for a light, clean and very fresh scent. Similar to the original Fan Di Fendi bottle, this new light green bottle contains the signature Fendi double-F emblem.
Givenchy Dahlia Nor L'Eau ($71/50ml, $95/90ml):
Adding to their Dahlia Noir line, Givenchy introduces 'Dahlia Noir L'eau', which combines notes of citrus, neroli, rose, patchouli, cedar and musk for a silky, sensual scent, perfect for a night out. The clear glass bottle, with a chunky white and silver cap looks elegant and luxurious contrasting nicely with the green tinted fragrance.
What is your favourite Summer fragrance? Will you be having a sniff of any of the fragrances mentioned above? be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

With Mother's Day just a couple of days away, I wanted to do a couple of 'Mother Day Gift Ideas' post for all of those last minute shoppers.
My mom is both easy and extremely difficult to shop for. Easy because she likes the same things every year (cotton nightgowns, garden decor/tools and things that smell nice). Difficult, because it is hard to come up with new, creative ideas every year.
Luckily, for those who are like me and have a hard time deciding what to get your Mom, Fruits and Passions has come out with a new collection of 'things that smell nice' just in time for Mother's Day.
Adding to their already popular 'Cucina Al Fresco' Collection, Fruits and Passions have introduced a new Pompelmo (Italian for grapefruit) scent that 'takes you straight to the heart of summer [with] its accent of crisp green cucumber combined with refreshingly delightful pink lemonade'.
I was recently sent two products from the new collection. Below is more information:
Fruits and Passion 'Pompelmo Hand Soap' ($20 CND/475ml):
"This mild biodegradable soap cleans hands effectively and gently. Made with first cold press virgin olive oil and other plan extracts, it boasts softening and revitalizing properties."
With a refillable glass bottle (not going to lie, when I first received it, I thought it was a bottle of sparkling grapefruit juice), this soap not only smells AMAZING (if you love citrusy grapefruit scents, you will love this), it looks extremely chic sitting next to the kitchen sink.
Fruits and Passion 'Pompelmo Regenerating Hand Cream' ($8 CND/60 ml):
"Cucina Regenerating Hand Cream combines all the remarkable properties of olives to moisturize, protect and tone dry skin. It contains three olive tree extracts that help regenerate and soften skin". With a combination of grapefruit, cucumbers and mint, the new Pompelmo hand cream smells divine, making me long for a summery, citrusy virgin cocktail (I don't drink).
The new 'Pompelmo Collection' will be in stores until June 9th and also includes a candle, a fragrant kitchen mist, a decorative diffuser fragrance and a foaming hand soap.
Do you have your Mother's Day shopping done? Will you be buying/asking for any items from Fruits and Passion this year? Have any great Mother's Day gift ideas? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.
