Redken 'Diamond Oil' Collection

Hey Everyone,

New to Redken, the Diamond Oil collection features five oil enriched hair care products that claim to deliver the following:

*Carat strength to make hair 3x stronger.
*Radiant clarity to give hair 2x more shine.
*Smoothness for 3x more conditioning
*Resilience for 3x less breakage.

Completely silicone-free, all five products from the new collection contain a blend of coriander, camelina and apricot oils which work to 'penetrate different layers of the hair to nourish and strengthen strands from the inside out'.  The new collection contains the following five products:

Redken Diamond Oil Shampoo ($18.99/10.1 fl oz):
Rich and nourishing, the new Diamond Oil shampoo gently cleanses, removing build-up that can lead to dull and/or damaged looking hair.

Redken Diamond Oil Conditioner ($19.99/8.5 fl oz):
Enriched with a variety of oils, the new Diamond Oil lightweight conditioner smoothes and hydrates hair for 'instant detangling and improved manageability'.

Redken Diamond Oil Facets Mask ($26.99/8.5 fl oz):
This thick, moisturizing hair mask is an intensive treatment for dry damaged hair as it nourishes and deeply replenishes the hair, restoring smoothness and shine.
Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine ($39.99/3.4 fl oz):
This silicone-free oil, suited best for normal to fine hair, 'works on different layers of the hair fibre to strengthen and replenish hair', creating a diamond-like shine.
Redken 'Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense':
Suited best for coarse hair, this silicone-free oil can be used on both wet and dry hair, and works to strengthen, replenish and enhance hair colour radiance creating a beautifully soft shine.

I've had a chance to use all five products over the past few weeks and have definitely noticed a difference in terms of how smooth my hair feels ,and how shiny it looks (a good shine, not greasy!). All five products have a warm, rich, amber-like scent that keeps hair smelling great throughout the day (my mom keeps commenting on how good I smell). My only complaint about the new Redken 'Diamond Oil' collection is the size of the conditioner.  Having thick, wavy hair, I am someone who uses way more conditioner than shampoo, and therefore would prefer to see a conditioner that contained the same amount of product as the shampoo.

Will you be treating your hair to some Diamond Oil? What is your all time favourite Redken hair product? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

My Skincare Routine for 'Curing' Acne

Hey Everyone,

After years of struggling with adult acne (I also struggled with cystic acne for a period of time), oily skin, dry flaky patches, and a very uneven, bumpy skin tone, I pretty much gave up on finding products that would help resolve all of my skin's problems.

Well, I am beyond excited (ecstatic really) to tell you that I've finally found a skincare routine that has not only helped reduce the number of breakouts I get (hardly any), but has also helped in giving me a smooth, less bumpy and more even skin tone.

Putting on concealer and foundation used to be a nightmare as trying to not only cover the acne spots, but also prevent my makeup from clinging to dry, flaky patches was a difficult task that, at least a couple of times, would literally bring me to tears. Since finding my new skincare routine, I actually enjoy applying my base makeup as I honestly cannot believe how smooth my skin looks and feels. I have also, shockingly, made a few trips out in public without a stitch of makeup on, something I NEVER thought would happen.

A true testament to how well my new skincare routine works for my face, I recently had a breakout after leaving a few of my skincare products at my cottage for a week. As soon as I was able to start using them again, my skin immediately cleared up and I am back to having almost flawless skin (I still have some old acne scars to take care of).

I can't sit here and say that my newfound skincare routine will work for everyone dealing with the same skin issues I have dealt with. As I have learned many times, what works for one person won't always work for another. What I can say is the products I use on a daily basis have really helped me, and if you too are struggling with acne, oily skin, uneven skin tone, etc., I think they are at least worth a second glance. Below are all of the skin care products I currently use:

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellaire Water:
As I have mentioned several times in previous posts, Bioderma's Sensibio H2O is by far the best makeup remover I have ever used. Not only is this micellaire water perfect for sensitive skin (like mine), it does an amazing job of removing all traces of makeup from the face (something that is very important for those struggling with acne). I use this product nightly before moving on to the other steps of my skincare routine.

Skin TX 'Medicated Acne Wash':
Formulated with 2% pharmaceutical grade Salicylic Acid, Skin TX Medicated Acne Wash deeply cleanses pores to remove impurities and reduce the number of breakouts one gets. I use this alcohol and oil-free wash once in the morning and once at night and found it really helped 'cure me' of cystic acne.

Miracle 10 'Solution I':
With 3% Glycolic Acid, Miracle 10's 'Solution I' works to gently exfoliate skin while helping to brighten and even out skin's overall tone. With skin-lightening agents, this toner-like solution also works to lighten the appearance of acne scars. I use this solution both day and night after cleansing with the TX Skincare face wash and have found it reaches deep into pores removing any impurities not touched by my makeup remover and face  wash.

Avene 'Clean-Ac Hydrating Cream':
Made for skin that has been irritated and dehydrated from intense acne treatments, Avene's 'Clean-Ac Hydrating Cream' has helped sooth and hydrate my dry flaky areas while controlling my oily skin and reducing the number of breakouts I get. I use this moisturizer every morning before applying my makeup.

Miracle 10 'AHA Gel I':
Containing 8% Glycolic Acid, Miracle 10's AHA Gel 'works as an advanced exfoliator' helping to remove dead skin cells, making way for a brighter, smoother and more healthy-looking complexion. I use one pump of this product at night (after using Solution I) and have found a HUGE difference in terms of the way my skin both looks and feels.

Miracle 10 'Veil':
Used at night, this lightweight, anti-bacterial moisturizer uses a silicone barrier to combat my oily skin, lock in moisture and reduce the number of breakouts I get. This moisturizer in combination with the Avene 'Clean-Ac Hydrating Cream' has completely rid my face of any dry, flaky patches.

LUSH 'Ocean Salt':
While both the Miracle 10 AHA Gel and Solution I work to gently exfoliate my skin, every now and then I just feel like having a good scrub. For this, I turn to LUSH's 'Ocean Salt'. A mix of ocean salt, lime, vodka, coconut and avocado, this slightly coarse scrub reaches deep into pores removing impurities and leave the skin feeling baby soft and smooth.

While I don't use face masks all that regularly, when I want to treat my skin to a little luxury (or I want to post a silly picture on Instagram), I turn to one of the following:

Avene 'Cleanance Mask':
Formulated for oily, acne-prone skin, Avene's 'Cleanance Mask' has a light, creamy, yet slightly gritty texture that lightly exfoliates skin while keeping it smooth and hydrated.

Soap and Glory 'The Fab Pore Facial Peel':
Also formulated for acne-prone skin, Soap and Glory's 'The Fab Pore Facial Peel' (don't worry it's more of a mask than an actual facial peel) works to not only target breakouts,, but also shrink the appearance of large pores.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, this skincare routine has made a huge difference when it comes to both the number of breakouts I get and my overall skintone. Unfortunately this routine will not work for everyone (don't you hate that), but if you are dealing with similar skin issues, I definitely think any of the above products are worth a try.

Are you struggling with acne-prone skin? Have you found any skincare products that help? Will you be trying any of the products above? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

** The Miracle 10 products were provided to me for review purposes. I loved them so much that I recently re-purchased all of them in full size. I also received the Soap and Glory product for review purposes. As always, all opinions are my own and 100% honest. **

Fashion Friday: Denim Vests

Hey Everyone,

As evidenced by the number of celebrities sporting them, jean vests are definitely on trend this summer. Dressed up with a long flowing maxi, or down with a white t-shirt and cut-off shorts, denim vests give any outfit a casual, relaxed, yet still very chic feel. Below are some of my favourite denim vest looks.

My sister and I at a recent event. I paired my vest with a long maxi dress from AdditionElle, while my sister chose to pair hers with a short floral-print dress from Target.

Rihanna pairs her denim vest with white crop top and distressed white jeans for an urban-chic feel.

Jessica Alba paired her slightly distressed denim vest with a baggy white t-shirt and a flowing maxi skirt for a very bohemian feel.

Sienna Miller paired her denim vest with a short floral print vest and scuffed up suede boots for a country-chic look.

Ashley Tisdale paired her denim vest with a short floral print mini skirt and a grey t-shirt for a very 'rocker girl'  feel.

Diane Kruger chose to pair her denim vest with a form fitting striped dress and a chic beige floppy hat.

Kim Kardashian spiced up her casual t-shirt, denim vest and jeans looks with a pair of stiletto boots.

Jessica Alba paired a second denim vest with a white t-shirt, baggy floral-print pants and a metallic silver bag. Personally, this is my favourite celebrity denim vest look as it is super casual, yet put together and on trend.

Nicole Richie chose to pair her rocker-chic studded denim vest with a more girly floral print dress and a pair of black wedge sandals.

Do you own a denim vest? If so, what is your favourite way to wear it? Which of the above celebrity looks do you like best? I'd love to know in the comment section below.

5 LUSH Summer Essentials

Hey Everyone,

From oily and acne-prone skin to dry damaged hair, hot summer weather can take a toll on the body. It is for that reason I am sharing five LUSH summer essentials that will keep you looking, and feeling, good all summer long.

 LUSH Sea Spray ($12.95 CND/100ml):
Having extremely thick, very frizzy and often out of control hair, LUSH's 'Sea Spray' is one of my top Summer essentials, as it helps tame my unruly curls, turning them into soft, very natural looking, beachy waves. Made with grapefruit oil, sea water and fine sea salt, LUSH's 'Sea Spray' works best sprayed into slightly damp hair, giving definition and body without the use of any heat styling tools.

LUSH 'Shine So Bright': Split End Treatment ($9.95 CND/10g):
While avoiding heat styling tools every now and then may be an option (see above), most of us still use a blowdryer, flat iron or curling iron at least a couple of times a week. It is for that reason, LUSH's 'Shine So Bright' Split End Treatment is a summer essential. Made with extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil and Shea butter, this moisturizing balm nourishes and strengthens hair helping to mend/prevent split ends, and tame fly-aways.

LUSH 'Tea Tree Water' ($9.95 CND/100ml):
With hot humid weather comes more oily and, in my case, more acne prone skin. It is for this reason a good toner, like LUSH's 'Tea Tree Water' is a summer essential. Made with anti-bacterial tea tree, juniperberry and grapefruit water, LUSH's 'Tea Tree Water' reduces oil, blemishes and redness, giving skin a more even appearance.

LUSH 'Mask of Magnaminty' Face and Back Mask ($12.95/125mg):
Keeping in mind that summer is swimsuit weather, LUSH's 'Mask of Magnaminty' is a summer essential that will help keep both the face and the body clear and blemish free. Made with China clay, peppermint, aduki beans and vanilla, LUSH's 'Mask of Magnaminty' gently exfoliates skin, getting down deep into pores to pull out dirt and debris, while calming redness due to sensitive skin.

LUSH 'Whoosh' Shower Jelly ($6.95 CND/100g):
On lazy, hot summer days the last thing one feels like doing is getting out of bed to shower/get ready first thing in the morning. It is for this reason LUSH's turquoise blue, ultra invigorating 'Whoosh' Shower Jelly is a must have, summer essential. Made with fresh lemon, lime and grapefruit juice and rosemary LUSH's 'Whoosh' Shower Jelly helps awaken the senses while thoroughly cleansing the body to combat breakouts.

Have you tried any of the above LUSH summer essentials? What are your LUSH essentials? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.
