Hey Everyone,

Since tomorrow is already the start of October (can you believe it?!), I decided to share my monthly giveaway a little early. Fashion Friday: Leather Accents For Fall 2013

Hey Everyone,

Earlier this week, my sister and I headed to the United States to do some much needed fall clothes shopping. It was an exhausting two days (why is shopping so tiring?), but we managed to pick up a lot of great items. One of the biggest trends I noticed while shopping was leather accents. From leather sleeves on a gorgeous trench coat, to leather padding on a military green shirt, I fell in love with the leather accent trend and decided to show you some of my favourite plus sized pieces for fall. While I only own one of the items above (see #4), I am hoping to add a couple more pieces to my collection this weekend when I head to the US for a Blake Shelton concert (the mall near the concert sells Forever 21 plus sizes).

What do you think of the leather accent trend for Fall? Do you own any leather pieces? Which of the looks above is your favourite? Be sure to let me know in the comment seciton below.

Emmy Awards 2013: My Top 10 Best Dressed Celebrities

Hey Everyone,

Last night marked the 65th annual Emmy Awards where the hottest names in TV came out to walk to the red carpet. While, in my opinion, many of the red carpet looks were a little too 'high school prom' for me, there were a number of very well dressed stars making it difficult to pick my favourites. After much consideration, here is my list of top 10 best dressed stars for the 2013 Emmy Awards.

Tina Fey in Narcisco Rodriguez

Kaley Cuoco in Vera Wang

Elisabeth Moss in Andrew Gn

Allison Williams in Ralph Lauren

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang

Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano

Kieman Shipka in Delpozo

Brooke Burke-Charvet

Leslie Mann in J. Mendel

Did you watch the Emmy Awards red carpet? Who were your picks for best/worst dressed? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Fashion Friday: Avon 'Start Something Bracelet Campaign'

Hey Everyone,

As I mentioned in a previous post, Avon Canada recently launched their 'Start Something Bracelet Campaign' in the hopes of 'empowering young women to speak out against bullying and domestic violence.'

After donating $200,000 to the Canadian Women's Foundation (which helps women and girls in Canada to 'move out of violence, out of poverty and into confidence') and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (which provides a wide range of mentoring programs for Canadian youth), to kickstart the campaign, Avon will be donating 100% of the proceeds of their new limited edition 'Start Something' bracelets to both charities.

The two 'Start Something' bracelets, which both contain a hidden 1GB USB, feature a slate grey silicone wrap. The first limited edition bracelet (seen above), which retails for $9 CND, has a thick strap and is embossed with the word 'start' in a variety of languages. The second bracelet (seen below), which retails for $20 CND, has a thin strap and rhinestone accents (my favourite!).

Both limited edition bracelets are available for purchase via the Avon Start website as of the beginning of this month.

I, for one, think this is an amazing campaign. Both the issues of bullying and domestic violence are extremely prevalent in our society. As we have seen from a number of recent news stories about bully-related suicides, cyber bullying is on the rise, and 1 in 5 Canadian teens admit they have been witness to online bullying. As for domestic violence, statistics show that one in three women worldwide will be affected by domestic violence, a number I personally find shocking.

I applaud Avon for starting this campaign and donating 100% of the proceeds to charity and, encourage everyone to check out the Avon Start website and find out how you can donate to the 'Start Something Bracelet Campaign.

Bold Lips For Fall with L'Oreal.

Hey Everyone,

They say you learn something new every day. Today I learned two things. #1) There are several different kinds of 'chandelier' light bulbs. Some are thin, others are thick. You can't go to a store and expect the sales person to know which one you need when they haven't actually seen the chandelier themselves. #2) It is difficult to take a picture of yourself looking in a mirror when you have a large camera in one hand and a lipstick in the other. In the end, I managed to solve both problems, buying the thin lightbulbs (hoping they work), and managing to take a few decent photo of myself wearing eyeliner (say what?!) and my new favourite lip combination.

When thinking about Fall makeup I always picture a bold lip whether it be bright and colourful or dark and vampy. While I do love a good vampy lip, the fact that summer is still clinging on for dear life (it was nice and warm today) has had me reaching for my new favourite bright lip combo, a mixture of the following two L'Oreal lip products:

L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in 'Raspberry Rush': A bright coral pink with heavy red undertones, 'Raspberry Rush' has a slightly glossy finish allowing it to be worn more sheerly or more opaque depending on your 'bold lip comfort level' (mine is super high).

L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss in 'Watermelon Crush': A bright, almost neon-looking pink, this jelly consistency gloss adds a hint of colour (its fairly sheer) and a high dose of shine to any lip look.

There had to be one no mirror shot...

I absolutely love this lip combination and will definitely be wearing it well into the Fall season. I have a wedding to attend this weekend and plan on rocking this look (eyeliner and all) with my black and white houndstooth dress and hot pink belt (seen here).

What do you think of my new favourite lip combo? Do you like wearing bright or vampy lips for Fall? What is your all time favourite Fall lip combination? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

**Both lip products were sent to me back in the Summer for PR consideration. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.**

mark. Full Service 5-Piece Pro Brush Set

Hey Everyone,

One of my makeup artistry teachers once told me, "you can never have too many makeup brushes". Those are words that I will never forget, as they have really come in handy when defending my addiction to, and massive collection of, face lip and eye brushes ("Why am I getting yet another crease brush? Well...a wise person once told me..."). Helping to further enable my makeup brush addiction, mark. cosmetics recently released their 'Full Service 5-Piece Pro Brush Set' featuring five lust worthy, full-sized brushes.

Making the perfect gift for someone on your holiday list (including yourself) the new set features five ridiculously cute brushes that combine a hot pink metal ferule and pink, silver and black patterned handle for a set you can't help but put out on display.
Luckily these brushes aren't just about good looks. The nylon fibre brush heads are ridiculously soft (I may or may not have spent some time just petting them), do not shed (there is nothing worse than having little black hairs all over your face) and are easy to wash. The metal ferule is firmly glued in place, meaning that it will be not be coming loose/falling off anytime soon (something that, unfortunately, can't be said about some of my other brushes. I'm looking at you Sigma).

The new mark. 'Full Service 5-Piece Pro Brush Set' includes the following brushes:

1) Powder Brush:
"Your go-to for sweeping on just about any powder-pressed, loose or powder foundation. A full rounded shape promises multiple uses and perfect results."

2) Blush/Bronzer Brush:
"Add colour, get a glow or simply highlight your best features with this flat-flared brush perfectly designed for creams and powders."

3) Concealer Brush:
"Achieve perfect coverage with this sleek essential for a flawless look. Expertly conceals imperfections with a smooth, even finish."

4) Eye Shadow Brush:
"Sweep and blend shadow expertly with this all-purpose brush that distributes colour evenly and blends seamlessly. Tapered for an eye-contoured design that allows for perfect shaping and shadow."

5) Eyeliner Brush:
"Line and define eyes with this precisely tapered brush for easy application. Use with liner or shadow for supreme versatility."

The new mark. Full Service 5-Piece Pro Brush Set retails for $32 CND ($6.40 a piece) and can be purchased through both the mark. and avon websites. Whether you are buying for a makeup newbie (this is a great starter set) or someone like me, who is addicted to all things 'makeup brush', this is a great quality, very affordable set I definitely recommend.

What do you think of the new brush set? Will you be picking one up for yourself or a friend? Are you a makeup brush addict like me? What is your all time favourite makeup brush? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo in 'Nude. No. 4' (Review+Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

If you have been following my blog for a while now, you know that I have a love/hate relationship with nude lips. While I love the way they look on others, I usually hate they look on me, as I find they always seem to give me that 'dead lips' look (attractive only to zombies). While I've managed to try a variety of nude shades over my three years of blogging (pink undertones, peach undertones, brown undertones, etc), it wasn't until last month that I finally found what I think, just might be my perfect nude--Hourglass's Femme Nude Lip Stylo in 'Nude. No. 4'.

One of six shades from the high-end cosmetic brand's new 'Notorious Nudes' collection, 'Nude. No. 4' is, by far, the most elegant looking lipstick 'stylo' (it just sounds so much better than lipstick pencil) I have ever seen. With sleep bronzed and gold packaging, this this sharpener-free, retractable stylo allows for easy, precise, mirror-free application.

Described as a 'pink beige nude with a touch of rose', Nude. No. 4 is super soft, super creamy and very well pigmented, leaving lips with a fully opaque finish in just one swipe. Free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates and fragrances, this cruelty free lipstick is packed with Vitamin E meaning, despite its matte texture (something I usually despise), it leaves lips feeling well hydrated throughout the day (I can leave this lipstick on for hours without using any sort of lip balm under it).

At $35 CND ($30 USD) a piece, Hourglass's new Femme Nude Lip Stylos are not cheap, and, to be honest, probably not something I would have ever considered purchasing had it not been sent to me for PR consideration. Now that I have tried them, however, I can honestly say that they are worth checking out, especially considering there are six shades meant to compliment a variety of skintones.

If you like me, have been searching for your perfect nude, these just might be for you. I definitely plan on checking out Nude. No. 5 and Nude. No 6 on my next trip to Sephora. Who knows, I may just end up with more than one perfect nude.
