Milani 'Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadows': Part One (Review+Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

Over the past few weeks, social media (instagram, Facebook and Twitter) has been a buzz with the release of Milani Cosmetics' new 30 shade 'Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow' line. A gel to powder formula, the new Milani shadows are incredibly vibrant and rich, delivering maximum colour and opacity in just one swipe (all of the shades are extremely well pigmented, with the exception of two, which I will feature in part two of my Milani 'Bella Eyes Gel Powder' post).

With three finishes to choose from (satin matte, shimmer and metallic), the new 'Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadows' are incredibly light weight and can be used wet (as an eyeliner or foiled shadow) or dry, depending on your desired finish. While the shadows all appear to be somewhat dry upon first appearance (I thought they were going to be very difficult to work with), once swatched it is clear they have a very creamy, soft formula (like a gel) that makes for easy blending.

With a large variety of both neutrals and colours, the new Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder eyeshadow collection truly has something for everyone (I personally tend to stick to neutral tones, but those who love a lot of colour, will not be disappointed). While I can appreciate the quality and pigmentation of all of the shadows in the line, I have placed a '*' beside my  favourite shades from the new collection. Below is a closer look at the first fifteen eyeshadows from Milani's new 'Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow' collection (the second set of fifteen shadows will be featured in my next post):

01 Bella Ivory (Satin Matte)*: A gorgeous champagne with pink undertones, an iridescent sheen and iridescent white shimmer.

02 Bella Sand (Shimmer): A light shimmering yellow-toned gold with very finely milled iridescent gold shimmer.

03 Bella Cappuccino (Satin Matte)*: A matte dusty brown with slight purple undertones.

04 Bella CafĂ© (Satin Matte): A light, matte smoky brown with yellow undertones.

05 Bella Taupe (Satin Matte): A cold-toned, matte taupe with strong grey undertones.

06 Bella Espresso (Satin Matte): A deep cool-toned chocolate brown with yellow undertones and finely milled gold shimmer.

07 Bella White (Satin Matte): A matte white with a slight iridescent sheen.

08 Bella Sky (Shimmer): A light sky blue with an iridescent blue sheen and very finely milled blue shimmer.

09 Bella Navy (Satin Matte)*: An insanely well-pigmented navy with finely milled iridescent turquoise shimmer.

10 Bella Gray (Satin Matte): A light silver-toned grey with a slight iridescent sheen.

11 Bella Charcoal (Shimmer): A deep charcoal grey with an iridescent sheen and finely milled silver shimmer.

12 Bella Black (Satin Matte)*: A deeply pigmented matte jet black.

13 Bella Pink (Shimmer): A frosted baby pink with an iridescent lilac sheen and finely milled white shimmer.

14 Bella Violet (Shimmer): A bright violet purple with an iridescent, almost metallic blue sheen.

15 Bella Purple (Satin Matte): A matte smoky plum with very finely milled iridescent blue shimmer.

Milani's new Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadows start at $3.99 USD (depending on the retailer) and can be found at CVS stores in the US as well as The Superstore/Loblaws stores in Canada.

L'Oreal Pop Balm in 'Wild Lily' (Review+Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

To know me is to know my love for all that is tinted lip balm. With incredibly dry lips and an affinity for boldly coloured lip products (I can appreciate a good nude, but colour is always more fun), I am always on the hunt for the next best tinted balm (lipsticks, for the most part, are just too drying for me). So, when I found out that L'Oreal was releasing their new line of 'Pop Balm' tinted lip balms, I could't wait to give them a try.

Similar to one of my all time favourite lip products, L'Oreal's Colour Riche Balms, their new 'Pop Balms' contain moisturizing oils such a jojoba oil and shea butter to condition lips, leaving them soft and hydrated for up to eight hours. With a creamy, buttery texture, L'Oreal's new 'Pop Balms' glide on easily, leaving lips with a slightly glossy (they aren't high-shine, but they definitely don't give lips a matte look), nicely plumped finish.

Unlike the 'Colour Riche Balms', which are quite sheer, the new L'Oreal 'Pop Balms' are extremely well pigmented, giving lips a bold, opaque 'POP' of colour (hence the name). While the Pop balms are fairly bright upon first application, they can easily be built up or sheered out depending on your desired look (I, personally say, go bold or go home).

Below is a closer look at one of the new L'Oreal 'Pop Balm' shades:

L'Oreal Pop Balm in '410 Wild Lily':
A bright, almost neon barbie pink with blue undertones, 'Wild Lily' makes for the perfect bold Summer lip. Extremely moisturizing, 'Wild Lily' applies beautifully (this is a no-mirror-needed type of product) leaving lips feeling nicely hydrated all day long.

The new L'Oreal Pop Balms retail for $9.99 CND and can be found at mass retailers and drugstores nationwide as of the beginning of last month.

What do you think of L'Oreal new Pop Balms? Will you be giving them a try? What is your all time favourite tinted lip balm? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Currently Coveting

While I have long admired Stella & Dot's gorgeous line of jewelry (everything is so pretty!), I have yet to bring myself to buy anything from the fairly expensive line. The 'Sutton Necklace', which combines silver and gold chains that detach to be worn in a five different ways, may just be my first piece from the line. While pricey (especially for someone who is used to $12 Forever 21 necklaces), The 'Sutton Necklace' is extremely versatile and, in my opinion, a timeless piece that won't go out of style any time soon, thus bringing it to the top of my 'wish list' (I also love the new 'Sutton Necklace' in all gold).

Let's be honest, I need another neutral eyeshadow palette, like I need a hole in my head, and yet, Marc Jacobs's stunning new 'The Dreamer' eyeshadow palette is just too gorgeous to resist. With seven warm-toned neutral shadows (chocolate brown, shimmering gold, rose gold, and more), Marc Jacob's new Fall 2014 palette has my name written all over it (personally I think he should have named it 'The Alicia').

If you've been reading my blog for a while now, you know that I have a slight obsession with anything and everything Rebecca Minkoff (I can't get enough of her handbags). Small and compact, Rebecca Minkoff's Moto Mini Purse in 'Tortora', a dusty purple-taupe (how perfect is this colour for fall?!), is the perfect size for carrying all of the essentials without becoming too heavy for someone, who like me, has a bad back.

If you watched my Florida haul last Christmas, you may remember I picked up a pair of these Dolce & Gabanna sunglasses during an amazing Boxing Day Sale. Unfortunately, I managed to lose my pair of sunglasses at the beginning of the Summer and have been missing them ever since. While this really should be a lesson that I can't be trusted with anything nicer than $10 Forever21 sunglasses, I would really would love to get my hands on another pair as they fit so nicely and looked really great on.

I have, without a doubt, fallen into a bit of a makeup rut when it comes to my highlighter. While I am absolutely obsessed with MAC's Extra Dimension Skinfinish in 'Superb', a gorgeous metallic rose gold highlighter, I think it's time to branch out and start using something else. Incredibly smooth and creamy, Laura Mercier's Matte Radiance Baked Powder in 'Highlight' gives skin the perfect lit-from-within champagne glow without drawing any attention to imperfections or uneven skin. I will be picking this product up on my next trip to Sephora.

While not quite at stunning as the 'Sutton Necklace', Stella & Dot's Rebel Pendant is another jewelry piece I've had my eye on for a while now. Long and sleek, this bullet-esque pendant hangs beautifully and would look amazing paired with any v-neck shirt or maxi dress.

With gorgeous hues of gold, copper, terracotta green and purple, Anastasia Beverly Hill's new 'Amrezy' eyeshadow palette is perfect for fall. While I have yet to play around with the palette myself, I have seen a lot of photos and swatches of it online, and let me tell you, the pigmentation and quality of each of the shadows in the new 'Amrezy' palette is out of this world. At only $29 USD, I think this palette is a complete steal and will, without a doubt, be adding it to my collection (Anastasia's 'Catwalk' palette still remains one of my all time favourites).

Are you currently coveting any of the items on my list? What is on your current wish list? Any items you think I need to add to mine? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

NOTD: essence Cosmetics 'Off To Miami' + 'Call Me Galaxy' Glitter

Hey Everyone,

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all having a great week and are looking forward to an even better weekend. I am currently spending the week up at my cottage in Bayfield recuperating from a Fibromyalgia flare up (not fun, but I'm slowly on the mend). The weather, which was extremely hot and humid yesterday, is unfortunately, fairly cold and windy today (I am currently wearing a sweatshirt and a blanket), so, I thought I'd share my latest bright, colourful nail look, in the hopes that the Summer weather will be making its return very soon (I'd love to go swimming while I'm up here). Below is a closer look at my current nail of the day:

To start my nail look, I used two coats of essence's Colour & Go nail polish in 'Off To Miami', a shade I recently picked up at my local Shoppers Drugmart. A bold, almost neon, creamy coral with strong orange undertones, this polish applies smoothly and opaquely in just one to two coats (I applied two, but you could very easily get away with one), making it a complete steal at only $1.99 CND.

To add a little pizzaz to my nail look, I decided to experiment with essence's nail effects nail art in 'Call Me Galaxy' a gorgeous, chunky, loose rainbow coloured glitter. Having never used a loose glitter on my nails before, I was a little nervous as to how to apply it, but found it worked best pressing it onto wet nails with my fingers before applying a clear top coat (slightly messy but worth the end result).

Overall, I really like the look and will definitely be playing with more loose glitter in the future (I'd really like to get my hands on some nail foils as well). In my opinion, essence's line of polishes give high-end nail polish lines (OPI, Essie, even Dior and Chanel) a run for their money, and are, by far, the best drugstore polishes currently on the market (you seriously can't beat the $1.99 CND price!).

What do you think of my bright, glittery nail look? Have you tried any of essence's line of nail polishes? If so, what is your favourite shade? What are you currently sporting on your nails? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.
