Sephora VIB Sale Wish List

Hey Everyone,

With Sephora's annual 20% off VIB sale just around the corner (November 5th for VIB Rouge Members, November 6th for VIBS), I thought I would have a little look around the Sephora website to see what items I wanted to add to my wish list. While I can say with certainty I won't be picking all of the following items up (I can't afford to spend $199 on a hair kit even if the yellow blow dryer is super cute!), I thought it would be fun to share some of my wish list picks with you.

1) NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in 'Subra' ($33 CND): While at $33 CND each, NARS's new 'Dual Intensity Eyeshadows' are quite pricey, they are definitely some of the best quality shadows I own. Having two of the shades already ('Callisto' and 'Desdemona'), I can't wait to get my hands on more, and have my eyes locked on 'Subra', a blackened orchid, perfect for a  creating a dramatic smoky eye.

2) Beauty Blender Micro Mini Sponges ($24 CND): While over the years I have tried several different brushes and sponges to apply my foundation, I always come back to the original Beauty Blender. A soft sponge that doubles in size when wet, the Beauty Blender is the perfect tool when it comes to creating an airbrushed finish. With the success of the original Beauty Blender, the brand has introduced a new micro mini sponge that works to apply and blend makeup onto the 'smallest parts of the face'. As someone who is always struggling with making my under eye concealer appear smooth (and not creased and cakey), this is one item I will for sure be picking up during the VIB Sale.

3) Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation Serum ($68 CND): After receiving a deluxe sample of Perricone MD's 'No Foundation Foundation Serum' with one of my Sephora purchases, I have fallen head over heels in love. Completely weightless, this foundation, which works to minimize the appearance of fine lines and imperfections, blends like a dream, giving skin a natural, dewy finish. While extremely pricey at $68 CND (woah!), it has become one of my holy grail makeup products and is, in my opinion, well worth the price.

4) NARS Audacious Lipstick in 'Anna' and 'Liv' ($37 CND): Truthfully, it has been months since I've worn lipstick. While I love the way it looks on my lips, I find even the most hydrating lipsticks to be somewhat drying after a few hours wear, and have been sticking to moisturizing tinted balms instead (or sometimes good old Carmex). With that said, I can't help but lust after NARS's new line of Audacious Lipsticks. With 30 shades to choose from, it was hard to pick my favourite, but Anna, a nude smokey rose is definitely at the top of my list (To be honest, me and my lips will probably just admire it from afar).

5) Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye-Con Palette in 'The Dreamer' ($71 CND): Let's be honest, I need another neutral eyeshadow palette like I need a hole in my head, but that doesn't stop me from drooling over Marc Jacobs' 'The Dreamer' palette. With soft browns, rose golds and warm bronzes, this palette is right up my alley, but will sadly be staying on Sephora shelves as I can't bring myself to buy yet another neutral palette at this time (what in the world is happening to me?!).

6) Dry Bar Big Hair Don't Care Holiday Set ($199 CND): As my hair has been getting longer and longer (finally!), I have become more obsessed with hair care products. Having tried Dry Bar's 'Lemon Drop Detangler Brush', I really want to try more items from the ridiculously cute line. Despite my love for all that is bright yellow, I really don't need another blow dryer (the one I have works perfectly) so I will most likely be checking out some of their smaller (and less expensive) products during the VIB Sale.

7) Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder in 'Opal' ($46 CND):  It is only within the past year that I have become absolutely obsessed with highlighters. I am without a doubt a dewy/glowy skin lover who can't add highlighting products to my collection fast enough (it's my new blush addiction). Having heard so many amazing things about Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfectors, I am itching to get my hands on one of them, and Opal, a golden opal pearl, sounds like something I need (not want, need).

8) Tangle Teezer Compact Styler ($25 CND): With long hair comes a ton of tangles (brushing my hair out each morning has become torturous) and, while I do like the Dry Bar brush mentioned above, my insanely thick mane is starting to bend and break some of the bristles. Having heard nothing but rave reviews about the Tangle Teezer, I've decided to give it a try while it is on sale. Hopefully my hair (and scalp) will thank me.

9) Caudalie Beauty Elixir ($19 CND): Having heard so many amazing reviews about Caudalie's 'Beauty Elixir', I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try a couple of months ago (I honestly thought it was just going to be overpriced water in a fancy bottle). Well, my fellow beauty addicts, I am in love! A blend of essential oils and plant active ingredients, this part-toner, part serum mist, works to 'smooth skin, tighten pores and provide an instant burst of radiance'. Basically, it feels absolutely refreshing (I like to spray it on both before and after I apply my makeup), locks in makeup and keeps skin nicely hydrated throughout the day. I am almost done my first bottle of 'Beauty Elixir' and will definitely be picking up another one during the sale.

10) GLAMGLOW Gift Sexy Set ($76 CND): When it comes to face masks, GLAMGLOW is definitely one of the best brands on the market. Having recently tried a sample of the brand's 'THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Mask' I can't wait to get my hands on a tub of it (it feels so cooling and hydrating), and think this gift set, which includes a full sized 'THIRSTYMUD'  as well as a mini 'SUPERMUD' and a mini 'YOUTHMUD' is definitely the way to go (the gift set is the same prize as the full sized 'THIRSTYMUD' tub on its own).

Will you be picking anything up during Sephora's VIB Sale? Anything you think I should add to my list? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Dior 'Golden Shock' Holiday 2014 Collection: Eyeshadow Palettes (Review+Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

As I mentioned in yesterday's post (here), Dior recently released a stunning collection of eyeshadows, nail polishes, lipsticks and lip glosses as part of their new Holiday 2014 'Golden Shock' Collection. While I haven't always been the biggest fan of Dior's eyeshadow palettes (I've found many of them to be underwhelming when it comes to both pigmentation and quality), the two palettes in this new collection are absolutely stunning and, by far, some of my favourites from the high-end brand. With both warm golds and icy silvers, the newest eyeshadow palettes are absolutely perfect for the holiday season.

"On the eyelids, colours meet their golden reflection. Like a signature look, the beaten gold effect joins the kaleidoscope of matte, satin and iridescent finishes...Layers are intriguing and fascinating...The possibilities are endless...Textures and effects make the shades shimmer."

Below is a closer look at the two new 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes from Dior's 'Golden Shock' Collection:

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in '046 Golden Reflections' ($61 CND):

"Steely grey, icy silver and muted bronze dance with platinum and white gold effects"

Top Left: A deep smoky charcoal-grey with slight blue undertones and finely milled iridescent shimmer, this beautifully pigmented shade makes for the perfect smoky eye when worn all over the lid and/or the crease and 'outer-v'.

Top Right: A deep, slightly metallic bronze with olive green undertones, this beautifully pigmented shadow is by far my favourite in the 'Golden Reflections' palette, giving lids a gorgeous sheen.

Middle: An icy taupe packed full of chunky iridescent gold, green and silver glitter, this shade, like most of Dior's glitter shades, doesn't have a lot of pigmentation and, instead, offers a beautiful glitzy eye look when worn on top of the other shadows in this palette.

Bottom Left: A light creamy matte beige, this shadow, while not as pigmented as the top two shades, does offer a nice highlight/transition shade for both the brow bone and inner corner of the eyes.

Bottom Right:  A light icy silver with strong purple undertones and finely milled silver shimmer, this nicely pigmented shade (it's definitely not as bold as the top two shades but does offer a nice amount of colour payoff) makes for the most beautiful 'winter ice' eye look when paired with the deep charcoal grey (top left).

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 'Golden Shock' ($61 CND):

"Intense plum and taffeta pink wave a veil of couture colour across the skin, lit up with sequins and gold radiance"

Top Left: A deep smoky plum packed with very finely milled purple shimmer, this extremely well pigmented shade is by far my favourite from the new 'Golden Shock' palette, making for the perfect colourful, slightly grungy, smoky eye.

Top Right: A light brown with plum undertones, this nicely pigmented shade makes for the perfect crease colour, giving lids definition.

Middle: A bright yellow gold packed full of chunky iridescent gold and green glitter, this shade, surprisingly, has more pigmentation than most of Dior's glitter shades, but still looks best worn on top of one of the other shadows in the 'Golden Shock' palette.

Bottom Left: A light matte pink with large flecks of gold shimmer, this shadow, while not boldly pigmented (it is very light), makes for a nice, soft daytime lid shade.

Bottom Right: A light gold with an iridescent peach sheen, this absolutely stunning shade is unlike anything I own (it's extremely unique) and looks gorgeous worn all over the lid with just a touch of eyeliner and mascara.

Dior 'Golden Shock' Holiday 2014 Nail Polishes (Review + Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

While it is hard to believe we are already gearing up for the holiday season (there are 56 days until Christmas . . . not that I am counting), several beauty brands are already 'wow-ing' us with their stunning holiday inspired collections. Dior is no exception, as their 'Golden Shock' Holiday 2014 Collection embraces the glamour and glitz of the season with several  new lipsticks, lip glosses, mono shadows, eyeshadow palettes, nail polishes and an absolutely gorgeous highlighter.
I was recently sent some some items from Dior's new 'Golden Shock' Holiday 2014 Collection and, after a couple weeks of testing them out, couldn't wait to share my thoughts. Below is a closer look at the five 'ornament like' nail polishes from Dior's newest collection:

Dior Diorific Vernis  in '001 Golden Shock Top Coat' ($29 CND):
A clear jelly base packed full of large flecks of golden glitter, Dior's 'Golden Shock Top Coat' gives nails a gold leaf effect that looks gorgeous worn over both lighter and darker polishes (it also looks good on its own for a trendy 'negative space' nail look). Easy to apply (you will get a good dose of glitter in two coats), Dior's 'Golden Shock Top Coat' is one of the prettiest polishes I have ever seen and, while quite pricey at $29 CND, definitely a product I would recommend checking out if you are looking to treat yourself to a little splurge.

Dior Diorific Vernis in '022 Mirror' ($28 CND):
A pearlescent white with an iridescent sheen and extremely finely milled gold shimmer, Dior's 'Mirror' gives nails a barely there, soft pearlized sheen (if you are looking for an opaque polish, this is not for you). Being that this polish is so sheer, it requires a good 3 coats to hide nail ridges and imperfections, making it somewhat 'high maintenance'. Personally, I prefer a little more bang for my buck and would stick to one of the darker shade in this collection.

Dior Diorific Vernis in '241 Golden Equinox' ($28 CND):
A warm metallic gold with finely milled iridescent gold shimmer, Dior's 'Gold Equinox' applies opaquely in three coats. While I love the look of metallic nails for the holidays, this polish is, unfortunately, quite streaky, and, therefore, not worth the $28 price tag, in my opinion.

Dior Diorific Vernis in '762 Shock' ($28 CND):
A bright red cream polish with slight blue undertones, Dior's 'Shock' is the quintessential holiday red. This polish, which applies opaquely in just one to two coats (you can definitely get away with one), is Dior at its best, making it one shade I recommend to all of my fellow nail polish addicts.

Dior Diorific Vernis in '990 Smoky' ($28 CND):
A deep smoky purple cream polish with extremely finely milled specs of iridescent shimmer, Dior's 'Smoky' applies opaquely in two coats giving nails an almost black-like colour. Combined with 'Dior's Golden Shock Top Coat', this polish makes for one gorgeous holiday nail look (see below) that I definitely plan on rocking all season long (I can't get enough of the combination).

Smoky + Golden Shock Top Coat

L-R: Golden Shock Top Coat, Mirror, Golden Equinoxe, Shock, Smoky, Smoky with Golden Shock Top Coat.

The new Dior Golden Shock Collection is available at Dior counters nationwide as of the beginning of this month.

What do you think of Dior's new holiday nail polishes? Will you be adding any of them to your holiday wish list? Which of the above shades would you most like to get your hands on? What is your all time favourite holiday nail polish? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Haul: ColourPop Eyeshadows (Review+Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

Happy Friday! I hope you have all had a wonderful week. My week, unfortunately, hit of a bit of sour note yesterday when I was in a small parking lot car accident. Luckily no one was hurt (except maybe my wallet), but there is quite a bit of damage to my brand new car. While the accident put a small kink in my week, it was still a great week as I managed to haul the new Lorac Mega Pro Palette and some pretty amazing ColourPop eyeshadows.

For those unfamiliar with the brand, ColourPop is a newer, cruelty-free company that sells the most pigmented lipliners, lipsticks and eyeshadows you have ever seen. At only $5 USD a piece, their 'gel-like' shadows (it's a texture you just have to try for yourself), which come in a variety of finishes (metallic, satin, pearlized, etc.), are ridiculously well pigmented (all shadow swatches below were done with one swipe...amazing!) and an absolute dream to apply. Due to their unique formulation, these shadows are best applied with the finger but can also be used wet or dry with a brush (I like to use a wet brush to foil mine). Below is a closer look at the nine ColourPop eyeshadow shades I recently picked up:

ColourPop Eyeshadow in 'I Heart This' (Metallic):
A light metallic taupe with both silver and purple undertones packed full of silver glitter, 'I Heart This' makes for a beautiful cool-toned lid colour. While this shade is incredibly well pigmented, I do like to apply it with a wet brush for a more foiled look.

ColourPop Eyeshadow in 'Amaze' (Metallic):
A light rose gold with peach undertones packed full of gold glitter, 'Amaze' is one of the most gorgeous shadows I've ever seen (seriously, it's so pretty). While this shadow does have A LOT of fall out (most of the metallic shades do), its insane pigmentation makes up for any mess, in my opinion.

ColourPop Eyeshadow in 'Lovely' (Metallic):
A light shimmering champagne with both gold and peach undertones packed full of iridescent gold, pink and green iridescent glitter, 'Lovely' makes for a simple, yet stunning eye worn alone with just a touch of eyeliner and lots of mascara.

ColourPop Eyeshadow in 'Mittens' (Satin):
A warm chocolate brown with both red and orange undertones, 'Mittens', while said to have a 'satin finish', comes off as more of a matte. Insanely well pigmented (seriously, be careful it does stain), this shadow makes for a stunning crease and 'outer-v' shade.

ColourPop Eyeshadow in 'Desert' (Satin):
A light matte brown with strong orange undertones, 'Desert' reminds me of my all-time favourite MAC eyeshadow, 'Soft Brown', making for the most gorgeous crease colour. Extremely well pigmented, 'Desert' works to beautifully warm up any eye look.

ColourPop Eyeshadow in 'Mooning' (Pearlized):
A deep, smoky chocolate brown with finely milled copper shimmer, 'Mooning' works beautifully in the 'outer-v' to smoke up any eye look. Unlike some of the more glittery shades, 'Mooning' does not have a lot of fallout, making for a much easier application.

ColourPop Eyeshadow in 'Sequin' (Metallic):
A deep metallic rose gold with chunky iridescent silver glitter, 'Sequins' makes for the most gorgeous autumn inspired lid colour. Beautifully pigmented, this shade is best applied with the finger or a wet brush for maximum colour payoff.

ColourPop Eyeshadow in 'Get Lucky' (Ultra-Metallic):
A metallic antique gold with green undertones and not even a hint of glitter (I love the ultra-metallic formula), 'Get Lucky' works beautifully as both an all over lid colour, and an inner corner highlight. Incredibly creamy and smooth, this shadow applies and blends like a dream.

ColourPop Eyeshadow in 'Game Face' (Ultra Metallic):
A rich metallic copper with extremely finely milled copper shimmer, 'Game Face' is, for me, the most beautiful shadow in the entire ColourPop line (just look at it!). Extremely well pigmented (honestly, they all have amazing pigmentation) this gel-like shadow applies effortlessly and looks great worn all over the lid, making blue eyes pop.

I Heart This, Amaze, Lovely

 Mittens, Desert, Mooning

Sequin, Get Lucky, Game Face

At only $5 USD each, ColourPop's eyeshadows are a complete steal, and definitely worth a closer look (I know I will be looking to pick up a few more shades).

Have you tried any of ColourPop's eyeshadows? Do you want to? Of the shades above which is your favourite? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Memebox Review: '#26 Hand & Nail Care Box'

Hey Everyone,

While I have never been a big fan of all of the beauty subscription boxes currently on the market (truthfully, I would rather spend my money on one item I know I will like than a box full of surprise items I might not like), I was recently given the opportunity to test out one of Memebox's specially curated beauty boxes, and figured why not give it a try.

A Korean beauty box service and e-commerce website, Memebox gives customers the chance to try a variety of Korean beauty products, with a number of specially themed skincare, haircare, nail care, body care and cosmetics boxes (ie. #59: Scrub Box and #57: For Dry & Sensitive Skin Box). Each box, which contains 4-8 full sized products and deluxe samples retails for $12-$32 (depending on which box you choose), and, unlike a lot of the other beauty box companies, does not require a monthly subscription (you can purchase as many themed boxes as you'd like).

While I personally would have chosen a cosmetics or skincare themed box, I was sent Special #26: Hand & Nail Care Box, and was surprisingly impressed with almost everything included. The box, which retails for $23, contains 7 full sized nail and hand care themed products.

'At Memebox, we believe that healthy and pretty hands are a girl’s best accessory, that hands should be as smooth as a baby’s bottom and that crazy manis are the best pick-me-up for any crappy day! So, treat and moisturize hands and nails to prevent early signs of aging, strengthen and pamper nails to perfection to create that impeccable nail salon-done look!'

Below is a closer look at each of the items included in my Memebox:

PURE SKIN 'Hand Care Pack' 15g ($4):
With grape extracts, witch hazel, grapefruit extracts, collagen, baobab tree extracts and olive leaf extracts, PURE SKIN's 'Hand Care Pack' works to deeply moisturize, nourish and firm skin, while removing excess impurities from the hands. Shaped like a pair of gloves, the PURE SKIN hand mask is unlike anything I've ever seen and, with the change in weather wreaking havoc on my skin, I am definitely looking forward to trying it out.

SUR 3D Nail Art Kit with 3D Polish/Magnet-12ml and Nail Art Pen-7ml ($29):
The SUR 3D Nail Art Kit, which is said to 'create gorgeous nail art in minutes', contains a metallic forest green magnetic nail polish (and magnet) and a bright blue nail art pen. Personally I wasn't overly thrilled with this particular product. While I do like the concept of a magnetic nail polish, the trend, for me, is a becoming little outdated as every nail company  on the market seems to have released their own version of this product. As for the nail art pen, the bright blue colour, while nice, is not a colour I would personally pair with the forest green polish.

PURE PLUS Hydrogel Moisturizing Nail Patch 2.5g ($8):
Enriched with collagen, milk, pearl powder, gold and paraffin, PURE PLUS's 'Hydro-gel Nail Patches' deeply moisturize and nourish dry, brittle nails within 20 minutes of application. Having had acrylic nails for over four years, my real nails are, for the lack of a better word, ruined, so I cannot wait to try these nail patches the next time I get my acrylics taken off.

with shan Dr. 001 Care Set 15ml ($13):
An emergency set for split, broken nails, 'Dr. 001' works to protect nails from further damage while strengthening nails' roots. The product, which is to be applied every two days for a week, can also be used as a strengthening base coat under any regular nail polish. Like the PURE PLUS Nail Patches above, this is another great product for those who have removed or plan to remove their acrylics and need to strengthen their natural nails.

BARBINIE Shea Butter Hand Cream in 'White Lily' 50 ml ($18):
Infused with shea butter and aloe vera extracts BARBINIE's Shea Butter Hand Creams 'delivers deep nourishment and moisture relief' to dry, cracked hands. While I find this cream to be incredibly hydrating (it has a thick, balm like texture) I personally find the floral smell to be too overpowering (I am not a fan of floral scents) and, therefore, will be giving this to my Mom or a friend.

Shara Shara Soft Hand Gommage 50ml ($6):
Described as a 'gentle, moisturizing peeling gel' Shara Shara's 'Soft Hand Gommage' works to remove hardened calluses and skin impurities, leaving hands soft and silky. Used like an exfoliator, this clear gel is to be rubbed into the skin for a couple of minutes and then rinsed under warm water. Upon first use, I definitely saw tons of dead skin cells/impurities coming off my hands, and think this is such a cool and innovative product.

with shan Baby Hand Treatment Oil Set 15ml ($9):
Infused with lemon juice and Vitamin E, with shah's 'Baby Hand Treatment Oil Set' (which comes with the oil and a specially designed file) helps to soften, nourish and remove dry calluses and cuticles on the nails. I will be completely honest in admitting that my cuticles are in pretty rough shape, so I am without a doubt excited to try this amazingly scented (it smells like lemonade) treatment oil.

While I am not usually a fan of these type of beauty boxes , I have to say I am really impressed by my first Memebox, and am definitely considering purchasing a few of the different speciality boxes.

The #26: Hand & Nail Care Box, which is valued at $87 can be purchased on the Memebox website (here) for $23+ shipping ($6.99). To save $5 off your first memebox purchase (this code can be used on any of the boxes), you can use the following code: 5OMG9E until the end of this month (note: this is not an affiliate link).

Have you tried any of the Memebox boxes? Do you want to? Which type of box (nail, hair, skin, body or cosmetics) would you most like to receive? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.
