Currently Coveting (Holiday 2014)

Hey Everyone,

While my family has decided to forgo Christmas presents in lieu of a Florida vacation (OMG, I cannot wait for a warm, snow-free Christmas), I thought it would be fun to share some of the items I am currently coveting, in the hopes of inspiring (or instigating) some of your own holiday wish lists.

1) Kate Spade 'Sparkle Bows IPad Folio': I'll be honest, I hardly ever use my iPad (I use my computer to write my blog, edit pictures, watch TV shows, etc), but this super cute black and gold iPad Air case totally stood out to me while I was surfing the Kate Spade website the other day (she has the cutest accessories!). On my last trip to Florida, my sister and I found a Kate Spade outlet store that had a 60% off sale (it was amazing!) so I will definitely be checking that out on my upcoming trip. Who knows, I may just come home with a super cute case.

2) Stella & Dot 'Mixed Metal Sutton Necklace': This incredibly gorgeous mixed metal necklace has been on my covet list for months. Chunky and bold, this necklace can be worn in a variety of ways, and looks great as both a 'choker' style and longer pendant necklace. Unfortunately at $128 CND, I have yet to bring myself to buy it (I am a Forever 21 jewelry kind of girl!), so for now, I will just keep admiring it from afar.

3) Laura Mercier Body & Bath Luxe Quartet in 'Almond Coconut Milk': While I absolutely love Laura Mercier's line of cosmetics, I have yet to try anything from her bath &  body collection. This set, which I imagine to smell like the beach (I haven't actually smelled it, but come on, you can't go wrong with almond and coconut), contains a honey bath, a body scrub, a soufflé body créme, and a shimmer body mist. Sign me up!

4) Too Faced 'Under The Mistletoe' Set: As I have mentioned several times in the past, I am not much of a lipstick girl (my dry lips can't handle more than some tinted lip balm these days). So why am I lusting after Too Faced new 'Under The Mistletoe Toe' lipstick set? I'll be honest, it is the incredibly cute mini La Creme lipsticks (these are quite moisturizing for a fully opaque lipstick) and glittery pink bag, that make this one item I'd love to find in my stocking this Christmas.

5) Agave 'Healing Vapour Iron': As much as I like to window shop both the Sephora and Ulta websites, it was only after watching a recent youtube video that I discovered the Agave line of repairing hair products, including the 'Healing Vapour Iron'. Used in conjuction with the brand's 'Vapour Infusion' leave in conditioner, this iron works to condition dry, damaged and frizzy hair, while making it smooth, shiny and healthy looking. My dry ends are absolutely drooling over this iron.

6) Michael Kors 'Slim Runway Black Stainless Steel Watch': Another item that has made several of my currently coveting lists is this absolutely gorgeous black stainless steel Michael Kors watch. Simple, yet elegant, this watch is the perfect accessory for any outfit (casual or more dressed up), and definitely something I will be keeping my eye out for while in Florida (I got a great deal on a watch last Christmas).

7) Fuji Film 'Instax Mini 8': The cutest camera I have possibly ever seen (you know I am longing after the baby pink shade), Fuji Film's 'Instax Mini 8' is the newest polaroid on the market, taking tiny 62mm x 46mm pictures. While I definitely wouldn't be using this camera on a daily basis (the film is quite expensive), I think this camera would make the perfect accompaniment for a girls night out, special date night or vacation (I can already see the photo collages I could put together).

8) It Brushes for Ulta 'Your Beautiful Basics Airbrush' Set: This past weekend, I made a pit stop in Ulta to check out (and of course purchase) some It Cosmetics products. While I didn't have any of the brands' new makeup brushes on my shopping list, I couldn't help but check them out, and of course, like any beauty addict, had to immediately add them to my wish list. Incredibly soft (seriously, I made my boyfriend pet them to see how soft they felt), these brushes feel of the highest quality, and, while I have yet to try them, I just know they apply makeup like a dream. While I would love to buy every brush from the new collection (who wouldn't?!), my sights are set on the 'Your Beautiful Basics Airbrush Set' which includes a powder brush, foundation brush, concealer brush, shadow brush and crease brush.

9) Sarah Jessica Parker 'SJP NYC' Perfume: As I have mentioned several times before, Sarah Jessica Parker's 'SJP NYC' is my all time favourite perfume. So why is it added to my currently coveting list? Well, I recently ran out and can't seem to find it anywhere (has it been discontinued?!). I would seriously love to get my hands on another bottle, so if you have any idea where I might be able to find, be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

What do you think of my most recent currently coveting list? Will you be adding anything to your holiday wish list? What are your plans for the holidays? What items are you currently coveting? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows in 'S610' and 'M626' (Review+Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

As I'm sure most of you, my fellow beauty junkies, know, earlier this year Make Up For Ever released their new range of 210 'Artist Shadows' (welcome to eyeshadow Heaven!). Made in a variety of finishes (matte, satin, metal, iridescent and diamond), the new gel-to-powder shadows are the work of Make Up For Ever artistic and creative director, Danny Sanz, who worked on the collection for three years to ensure each of the shades had 'superior blendablity and intense even colour payoff'. I was recently sent a couple of the new eyeshadows for review and couldn't wait to dig in. Below is a closer look at two of the new Make Up For Ever 'Artist Shadows':

Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow in 'S610-Almond' (Satin):
A soft brown with both warm pink and orange undertones, this satin-finish shadow makes for the most beautiful lid and crease colour (it reminds me
a lot of MAC's 'Soft Brown' but has a beautiful sheen). Insanely well pigmented (one swipe and you get a full dose of colour), this creamy and soft shadow is easy to blend, making it a new staple in my collection.

Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow in 'M626- Neutral Brown' (Matte):
A deep smoky brown with cool grey undertones, this matte shadow works beautifully in the crease and 'outer-v', creating both a daytime (blended out) and nighttime (packed on) smoky-eyed look. Extremely well pigmented, this buttery shadow (it's super soft but doesn't have any fallout) is incredibly easy to blend, something I find difficult to do with a lot of the matte shadows on the market.

S610, M626

To say I love the new Artist Shadows would be an understatement (my Mom always told me we love people, not things, but I would have to disagree). Insanely well pigmented (seriously, you need to swatch them), and incredibly easy to blend, they are everything an eyeshadow should be, and I would be lying if I said I didn't want to be a few more (you know, 50 or so) to my collection.

The new Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows retail for $29/each, but are a much better deal if you get a duo (2 for $39) or trio (3 for $50), and can be found at Sephora stores and Make Up For Ever boutiques nationwide.

Have you tried any of Make Up For Ever's new Artist Shadows? Do you want to? Any shades you recommend I add to my collection? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Ole Henriksen '3 Little Wonders Bonus Collection' (Review)

Hey Everyone,

This holiday season, high-end skincare brand, Ole Henriksen, wants to give the gift of great skin with their new '3 Little Wonders Bonus Collection' set. The set, which contains their 'African Red Tea Foaming Cleanse', 'Truth Serum Collagen Booster', 'Invigorating Night Treatment' and ' Sheer Transformation Moisturizer' works to brighten, hydrate and rejuvenate skin.

"Revitalize your skin this holiday season with these multitasking marvels that work in synergy to brighten, resurface, and hydrate the complexion. Harnessing vitamin C, essential fatty acids, and alpha hydroxy acids, this remarkable [set] will transform your skin in as little as seven days."

While I am somewhat of a chicken when it comes to trying new skincare products (I didn't love my old routine, but it worked fairly well for my sensitive, acne-prone skin), I decided to bite the bullet and give the limited edition Ole Henriksen '3 Little Wonders Bonus Collecton' set a real try. Although I have only been using it for nine days, I am loving the results I am seeing thus far, and couldn't wait to share my thoughts on this limited-edition holiday set:

Below is a closer look at the Ole Henriksen '3 Little Wonders Bonus Collection':
Ole Henriksen 'African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser' (3.5 oz):
With a mix of tangerine, grapefruit and orange extracts, Ole Henriksen's citrus scented 'African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser' works to remove impurities and makeup, while keeping skin nicely hydrated. Packed with Vitamin C (to brighten and firm), African red tea (an antioxidant) and borage seed oil (to soothe and nourish), this synthetic-fragrance and soap free cleanser is gentle enough to use both day and night. Having used an acne wash for the past three years, I was hesitant to try a new cleanser for fear that I would immediately break out. While I have only been using this cleanser for the past nine days, I have had absolutely no reactions (I do have the normal hormonal breakouts but those occur no matter what cleanser I use) and, instead, have found that my skin looks a lot more radiant.

Ole Henriksen 'Truth Serum Collagen Booster' (1 oz):
Enriched with Vitamin C and green tea extract, this anti-oxidant rich serum works to brighten skin, supporting skin's natural collagen production while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Oil-free, Ole Henriksen's 'Truth Serum Collagen Booster' absorbs quickly and is light enough to be used under makeup on a daily basis (I apply this in the morning after washing my face). While I haven't noticed a considerable difference when it comes to applying my makeup, I do think this serum is working (in combination with the other products in this set) to give my skin a more radiant appearance while slowly lightening my acne scars.

Ole Henriksen 'Invigorating Night Treatment' (1 oz):
Made with algae extract and alpha hydroxy acid complex, this light weight gel 'seals in essential vitamins and minerals' to deeply hydrate and nourish skin, helping it to appear smoother and more radiant. With a slight tingle (not burn), Ole Henriksen's 'Invigorating Night Treatment' works to resurface the top layers of skin over night (think of it as 'no work necessary' exfoliator), helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Of all the items in the 3 Little Wonders Bonus Collection, the 'Invigorating Night Treatment' is my favourite as I can already see (it's lightening my acne scars for sure) and feel (I wake up with the softest skin) its effects.

Ole Henriksen 'Sheer Transformation' (1 oz):
Light weight and oil-free, Ole Henriksen's 'Sheer Transformation' moisturizer works to hydrate and repair skin, while reducing the appearance of age spots (and acne scaring) and fine lines. Enriched with Vitamin C, Vitamin E, licorice and botanical fruit acids ', this silky moisturizer gently exfoliates skin, 'leaving you with a healthy-looking, smooth, radiant and refreshed complexion. I have been using this moisturizer both day and night for the past seven days and am loving it. While it is quite light in texture (I can wear it under my makeup no problem), I find it incredibly hydrating (the dry patches on my nose are slowly disappearing) and have definitely noticed my acne scars fading (I don't think it is from this product alone, but rather from the combination of all of the products in this set).

Valued at $138 (the full sized serums cost $58 and $60 alone), Ole Henriksen's limited edition '3 Little Wonders Bonus Collection' retails for $84 CND and can be found at Sephora stores nationwide. I have absolutely been loving this collection and while I have only been using it for the past nine days, have already picked up a second set during Sephora's VIB sale (I also grabbed a set for my Mom). I have also picked up a few other skin care products (an exfoliating scrub and a firming eye gel) from the Ole Henriksen line, and can't wait to give them a try.

Have you tried any of the Ole Henriksen's products? If so, which is your favourite? What do you think about the '3 Little Wonders Bonus Collection'? Is it something you will be adding to your holiday wish list? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Dior Mono Fusion Eyeshadow in 'Mirror' (Review+Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

As I mentioned in two of last week's posts (here and here), Dior Cosmetics recently launched their Holiday 2014 'Golden Shock' Collection. With several eyeshadows, lipsticks, lip glosses, and nail polishes, the new collection screams glamour, adding a beautiful touch of sparkle to any holiday look (I'll be honest, I'm all about shimmer and glitter lately). One of my favourite items from the new collection is Dior's new Mono Fusion Eyeshadow in 'Mirror', a unique, spongy mousse-like shadow that applies and blends beautifully giving the eyes a soft wash of shimmering colour.

"With a single stroke, [Mirror] creates a play of contrasts worthy of the backstage makeup artists"

Below is a closer look at Dior's newest Mono Fusion Eyeshadow:
Dior Mono Fusion Eyeshadow in '621 Mirror':
A light shimmering gold packed full of medium sized chunks of iridescent silver, gold and green glitter, Dior's 'Mirror' is incredibly silky in texture applying beautifully with the fingers or a stiff brush (I personally like to use my fingers). Surprisingly well pigmented, 'Mirror' looks beautiful worn on its own or over a darker matte or shimmer shadow. Packed full of glitter, 'Mirror' can be quite messy (it doesn't have much fallout, but glitter still seems to get everywhere), so I would definitely recommend applying it before doing your foundation/concealer. For me, this is the perfect 'holiday party' eyeshadow and definitely something I will be pulling out a lot next month.

Dior's Mono Fusion Eyeshadow in 'Mirror' retails for $32 CND (o.22oz) and can be found at Dior counters as of the beginning of last month.

What do you think of Dior's newest Mono Fusion Eyeshadow? Do you like a lot of shimmer and glitter during the holidays? What is your all time favourite glitter shadow? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

CMA Awards Red Carpet: My Top 10 Best Dressed Picks

Hey Everyone,

Yesterday marked the 48th CMA Awards and, as a complete country music junkie (I may love it more than makeup), I couldn't wait to see what all my favourite celebrities decided to wear on the red carpet. To be honest, I thought almost everyone who walked the carpet looked great, making it extremely hard to pick my favourites. After a lot of humming and hawing, here are my Top 10 looks from last night's awards show:

Miranda Lamber

Katie Armiger

Faith Hill

Lucy Hale

Chaley Rose

Cassadee Pope

Jana Kramer

Carrie Underwood

Jennifer Nettles

Kimberley Williams Paisley

Did you watch last night's CMA Awards? Who were your picks for best dressed? Which of the looks above would you be most likely to wear on the red carpet? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

mark. Cosmetics 'Colour Swing Mix It Up Eye Compact' (Review +Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

I'll be honest, when it comes to makeup, I definitely judge a book by its cover, as cute or innovative product packaging immediately draws my attention (think magpie). Of course good packaging is not enough on its own, as any beauty product (lipstick, blush, eyeshadow, etc) must also be of the highest quality (great pigmentation, texture, long wear time) to make my 'must have list'. Luckily for me, mark. Cosmetics' new 'Colour Swing Mix It Up Eye Compact' has both, with a unique, innovative compact that 'swings out' to reveal two rows of beautifully pigmented and incredibly silky eyeshadows (three 1.2 g shadows on each side), .

While small and compact, mark.'s Colour Swing' palette has a nice sized mirror making it perfect for travel (there are more than enough colours for a long weekend away) and/or daily touch-ups (this will easily fit into any purse). Below is a closer look at each of the shades in mark.'s new 'Colour Swing Mix It Up Eye Compact':

mark. 'Colour Swing Mix It Up Eye Compact' Side #1:

1) A light matte lilac with a slight iridescent blue sheen, this beautifully pigmented shadow makes for both a nice all-over-lid colour, as well as a unique inner corner highlight.

2) A bright purple with fuchsia undertones and a slight metallic blue sheen, this super silky, nicely pigmented shade makes for a beautiful pop of colour worn all over the lid.

3) A deep, smoky matte plum, this shadow is absolutely perfect for fall (I've been all about plum and copper shadows lately) creating a stunning, colourful smoky eye when worn in the crease and outer-v.

mark. 'Colour Swing Mix It Up Eye Compact' Side #2:

4) A light metallic taupe with very finely milled silver shimmer, this incredibly creamy shade (seriously, it feels like butter) makes for a beautiful daytime look when worn all over the lid with just a touch of mascara.

5) A metallic taupe-brown with very finely milled gold shimmer, this extremely well pigmented shadow works nicely as both an all-over-lid and crease colour (I also like to smoky it out along the bottom lash line).

6) A deep smoky matte olive green packed full of finely milled metallic copper glitter, this shadow is by far my favourite in the palette, making for a very unique smoky eye when worn all over the lid (I like to wet my brush before applying it, for a more intense look).

mark.'s 'Colour Swing Mix It Up Eye Compact' retails for $26 CND and can be found on the Avon website here. With the holidays just around the corner, I personally think this mini palette would make the perfect stocking stuffer for any beauty loving babe as both the quality and pigmentation of the eyeshadows are top notch.

What do you think of mark.'s new 'Colour Swing Mix It Up Eye Compact'? Which side would you be more likely to use? Be sure to let me know in the comment section below.

Quo by Orly: Fall 2014 Nail Polish (Review+Swatches)

Hey Everyone,

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. This weekend I went to movies with my sisters to see 'Gone Girl'. While I haven't read the book (yet), the previews sparked my interest and I am complete sucker for anything Ben Affleck stars in (he's so handsome). The movie, though disturbing, was really entertaining and I would definitely recommend checking it out while it is still in theatres.

For today's post, I wanted to share three of the six new polishes Canadian nail polish brand, 'Quo by Orly', recently released as part of their Fall 2014 Collection. The collection, which features  glitters, mattes and glossy creams, is fast drying,  3-Free (free of DBP, formaldehyde and toluene) and long lasting (I can wear these polishes over week without any chipping). Below is a closer look at three of the polishes from Quo by Orly's latest collection:

Quo by Orly Nail Polish in 'Dark Emerald':
A deep emerald green packed full of finely milled iridescent emerald and gold glitter, 'Dark Emerald' applies opaquely in just one to two coats, drying down to a matte base (I was totally surprised by this) with a hint of slightly more shiny glitter. While I love the way this polish looks matte, it also looks great worn with a glossy top coat, as it has a lot more sparkle and shine.

Quo by Orly Nail Polish in 'Prismatic':
A gorgeous rose gold glitter with both an iridescent green and iridescent copper sheen, 'Prismatic', while beautiful, is quite sheer needing a good three to four coats to reach full opacity. While this polish does look nice on its own, I prefer to wear it over a darker nail polish (like the one below) as it brings really brings out Prismatic's unique iridescent sheen.

Quo by Orly Nail Polish in 'Smudge Me':
A deep smoky taupe with strong purple undertones, 'Smudge Me' applies opaquely in two coats, giving nails a beautiful high-gloss finish. With cool undertones, 'Smudge Me' is the perfect polish for both fall and winter, reminding me a lot of Essie's coveted 'Merino Cool'.

L-R: Dark Emerald, Dark Emerald + Glossy Top Coat, Prismatic, Smudge Me, Smudge Me + Prismatic

Quo by Orly's new fall nail polishes retail for $10 CND/each and can be found exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart stores nationwide.

What do you think of Quo by Orly's new fall 2014 nail polishes? Which of the shades above would you most like to get your hands on? What all is your all time favourite fall nail polish? Be sure to let  me know in the comment section below.
